Question about Inuyasha

Unsure if I'm going to read it or not, though it sounds good.
I like manga that is a mix between shoujo/shonen (though I prefer shonen as it's more interesting). I like a lot of action, adventure, and comedy, and romance usually helps too. I'm into Japanese mythology and legends. The manga that I like right now are Rurouni Kenshin, DragonBall, and Fruits Basket.
From what I said I like, does it look like I'll like Inuyasha? (I know about the whole "demon" thing but actually, the word for demon is "oni" but Inuyasha's half "youkai," which is translated as "strange monster", so it depends on how you translate everything...that was so confusing...) (I also know about the bath nudity)
Just wondering because I know that there are a LOT of issues and I don't really want to waste all my money on something I'm not going to like. ;^^x

I personally watch and enjoy the anime, but I've read a little bit of the manga and seen quite a lot of nudity that isn't in the anime...

I suggest this is moved to the Anime page....and that you should read the reviews in Anime Reviews forum for Inuyasha information.

Yes, I agree. You'll probably get a better response if you hop over to manga or anime, heart.

Moving to Manga. Please, folks, try to find an appropriate forum to post these things; it really makes the place cluttered otherwise.

Sorry. ;^^x
(I know about the nudity in Inuyasha, but it's bath scene nudity which is different)

Um, why? I mean, nudity is nudity. Maybe I'm missing something. You care to clarify what you meant?

I think she's forming a distinction between sexual and non-sexual nudity. Personally, bath scenes don't bother me that much; it probably doesn't bother her much either.
Sorry, I don't know the answer to the question either as I haven't bought the manga yet. ^^;;

Yes, Inkhana is right. ^^x
I mean, there's a difference. Someone getting undressed in front of someone in a suggestive way is a lot different than someone taking a bath, so that's where it's different: taking a bath isn't glorifying sin, so it's not the same as "suggestive" nudity.

If you like Rurouni Kenshin, you should probably like Inuyasha. I personally love Inuyasha. It's the only reason I watch Adult Swim any more. And the manga is just as good (I have volumes 1, 14, 15, 16 and would like to get the rest).

A friend just informed me that there's an Inuyasha manga that costs about fifteen dollars...then there's one that's eight...which is which? *is confused* *falls over backwards onto the floor*

I believe there's a newly released "animanga," which is essentially the art style from the anime in manga form, and there's the original manga.

Is the "animanga" any cheaper?

hmm, I don't think so, but not positive.
Plus, the animanga follows the Tv Show by showing you pictures of screencaptures in color. So its a manga that is true to the Tv show, but not a manga that is true to the manga.
Does that help?
Sorry, I can't either confirm or deny whether the manga is good reading material. I haven't read any of it.

Animanga is more expensive and IMO, totally inferior to the real manga. The traditional manga is worth it. Buy the real manga, and watch the TV show, but the animanga isnt worth it.

Okay. Thanks Six. (that was way too confusing for this one)

I'd have to agree with Six. Also, as was pointed out, the animanga is not cheaper (it's the more expensive of the two, as I recall).

You have to remember, what we think of as demons and what the Japanese think of as demons are totally different things. Lots of Shinto and Buddist religion in here since its sorta based on those religions, but since we already know Jesus its nothing to worry much about. I'd definately recommend the manga, even though I've heard Viz did a lot of editting. Maybe not, I've never read it. I read the manga as it comes out in Japan with a little help from nice translations sites.
From the shows you're watching, you'll probly love Inuyasha.... If you're planning to eventually buy the dvds start saving your money now. at 150 some eps and counting and 3 eps per dvd at ~$26 you'll need to

I know, but actually Inuyasha's not half demon, he's half youkai (which literally means "strange monster" but it was translated as "demon" for reasons that I don't know). More specifically, a hanyou, which is translated as half human and half monster. (but I know that Japan sees demons differently.)
I'm not planning on buying DVDs....
...just reading the manga. (I'm getting it from the library, I can order just about every book...*cheap, corny evil laugh*

The only manga I've seen in any of the harris county libraries are zoids and dbz. I wonder if the Houstian Public library system is any better.
I've only read the first volume of Inu Yasha, and I think It was great. The shinto/buddist thing really doesn't bother me that much. From fith grade to seventh all i would read was greek mythology, and I belive that if you have no problems with greek mythology, then you shouldn't have problems with things based on other "old" world religions.
If you think shinto is weird, then you should try reading some norse mythology. Very strange stuff. Greek and Roman mythology is really weird too, when you think about it.

'Tis all weird...actually, my aunt and uncle are Norse Pagans. They honestly believe that Thor hammers a sheet of metal that makes thunder. -.- (Really. They'd bet their lives on it...I really hope that they become Christians...)

There are two versions of the original manga flopped and unflopped. The flopped are more expensive.

Oh. Then I'll find the unflopped...
I'm confused! ORO! I'll just go and find the unflopped, $8.95 version. That's the yellow one right?

I was reading a review on the second book and someone said that something "funny but inappropriate happened." What exactly happened? (please add spoiler tag like this: [*SPOILER]spoiler goes here[/SPOILER], without the star of course.)
