Oh, don't get me started on Gatekeepers.
Actually, do get me started. Here's the deal. Just like you, I picked up the first volume and thought it was great. I then got the second volume, and I liked it even more than the first. I promptly ran to the book store to get volume three-- and guess what: NO VOLUME THREE!!!
Yeah, I went to Tokyopop's web site and they only list two volumes. Unless the author didn't finish the series there's no reason why they shouldn't have gotten the rest of the volumes for such a fabulous series. To answer your question in short, there are only two volumes release.
I think you and me should go down to Tokyopop headquarters. Volume three or bust!

I have never read the manga, but I really enjoyed the Gate Keepers anime, which I have watched all the way through. It's really a good anime that doesn't seem to be very well-known. I'm not sure how closely the manga corresponds to the anime, but if it's similar in quality I'm not at all surprised that you're enjoying it, Belldandy and Mangafanatic.

YEA! Lets go bust in and demand all the volumes! I want more Gatekeepers!!!!!!!!! We should start a petition or something, lol.
Spiritsword, I forgot there is also an anime! Lol, how many volumes is it? Is it on DVD?

The Gate Keepers anime is seven volumes, I believe (or eight) and is on DVD. I own one of the volumes myself. It's definitely worth renting if you like the manga.

What is the Anime like I wonder? I looked at it, but I thought I remember someone telling me it was fanservice--y.

didn't seem very fanservice-y to me. short skirts are the most extreme it ever gets. there was that rather suggestive scene between Bancho and the nurse, but it wasn't much.
Gatekeepers is very popular, at least here. Storywise (since i haven't read the manga and had only seen the anime, but i'm assuming the plotlines are generally the same), it was okay for me. nothing extraordinary but nothing revolting either. there was a continuation series too after the first season, called Gatekeepers 21, which takes place years and years later. Syun already has a daughter there. ^^ and ________ became the new commander.

Yes, I've seen GateKeepers 21 as well. It's a short follow-up series, only 6 episodes (2 DVD's) long. It has a much darker tone than the original series. And I agree with Swordskill, there isn't much fanservice in the Gatekeepers series.

Yea I saw Garekeepers 21, and I agree, it was darker, I like the original Gatekeepers better! ^_^ Yea and they don't seem fanservicey except for the short skirts and all . . .

I bought the first volume for my sister as a gift b/c she asked for it, and out of curiosity I flipped through it at Borders...I now must admit that my younger, annoying sister has good taste in manga. I'm saving up to "supposedly" give her the second volume.
No volume three? *cries*
