I've heard about Demon Diary, but I think some of the content isn't really good, or appropriate. -_-;; Some people I know read it, and I wanted to get some info about it before I pick it up.

Does anyone have any perspectives or know anything about it?

Dog Demon, now that's an ok anime... Heheh... Sorry, the word that gets translated as "Demon" from Japanese really just means "Monster" IE some sort of mythical creature, and not what we think of as "demons"

Actually Bob, I think they really meant "Demon" this time. It's about Raenef, a kid who get's told he is the next demon lord Raenef (the sixth, I think.) and his mentor/high level flunky, Eclipse. I don't remeber exactly the back, but Raenef is supposed to "bring balance to the force" or something like that.
Obviously, there are dark arts. I don't recall to much swearing, and what little fanservice I've seen has been after the main story in the (I think) third volume. As I've only read up to 4, this may not be complete.

I have read Demon Diary and is very funny ;However, its not christian.
Is mostly about Raenef, the fifth demon lord. Since the four demon lord is "dead" or that's what they think, there has to be an other demon lord to take the place of that one. That's why the other high demon lords send Eclips in search of the fifth demon lord and teach him in "the ways", meaning teach him how to be bad. But Raenef the fifth is just a child that has no family or house and lives with a group and they help eachother sinse they don't have a families. The story is very sweet and funny. I like the story... but that's my opinion.

At first glance it seems pretty much a set up for shonen ai. You can't really get away from shonen ai with a main male character THAT girly....

Its under the shonen Ai category as defined by Tokyopop, and if it really matters to anyone its Manwha not Manga...Its korean.

shonen ai?? oh no!!! :bang: :bang:

I didn't like the title....but I thought the art was really really pretty! Under the assumption, that it's truly not good for Christians, this frustrates me greatly. How come there are comics with such good art but with not as good messages?? [whines]

O_o;; Oh, my guess was correct then O_o;;; (I hate it when that happens! Especially regarding manga with cute bishonen) I hear you Michiru! Must have manga with straight bishonen! ARGH!

I really can't get why the author doesn't just make that prince into a princess, it's not like he's going to change a lot--just the "he"s into "she"s and what not.... XD

unfortunately after more research (I work at a bookstore w/ info):
A tokyo pop publication.
"Eclipse finds himself strangely drawn to Raneef"
Yup its as suspected (I double checked because a second read of the publicity said by famed Shonen Ai artist...I had hopes I misread and the artist had just done some of that stuff, but made DD non S-ai....)
<hopes shatter and fall like icicles in the sun spraying across the ground on impact in a million directions and pieces>
Yeah and I liked what I saw at first too, thanks to the art, but then I read the synopsis...because I got suspicious.

The only shounen-ai in the series isn't even related to the story (it's in a side story in the first book). ^^; I personally love Demon Diary...the art is absolutely beautiful.

here is the summary of TOKYOPOP;
"Gods and demons wage a neverending battle with the mortal realm as their battlefield. As with most longstanding feuds, the reasons are no longer important - hatred is a way of life. But it is foretold that one would arise who could restore harmony between gods and demons. Enter Raenef ... heir to a set of demon royalty, he is hardly courtly material. The demon king assigns Eclipse to be his tutor, to mold Raenef into proper demonic shape. The two begin a journey of discovery and are soon joined by a human knight and a god-blessed priest. A compelling fantasy manwha adventure from Korea. "

personally, as soon as they said "demons and gods" in this i just left it alone. if the author is not original enough to come up with a reason on why these characters have powers, and just throws the names "gods" and "demon/devil" at you then it's not worth my time. whether or not the art is pretty. there are so many artists out there~ so it wouldn't hurt to let some of them go. there are plenty of other stories out there. :D

My friend who never posts loves this series, but I've never read it. I don't have any opinion on it because of that, but from what I've heard, it may be interesting. Not on my "to read ASAP" list, though. I will probably look into the story line and content of it though at some point.
