I just finished up Hayate Cross Blade volume 1.
Great story (another ridiculous school-where-the-students-have-to-fight-each-other scenario, but other than that...) however a little frustrated with certain pseudo-lesbian aspects, especially those involving a girl who is a first-year middle-schooler, i.e. around 12 years old.
Six. Though Samurai Deeper Kyo volume 24 was probably almost as bad.

I've spend the last few days since finals ended starting and catching up with Negima. I'd already seen SHAFT's alternate storyline anime (the stuff with the Star Crystal) and enjoyed it. At the same time, people were talking about how awesome the latest arc of Negima was (Negi vs. Rakan). Both of those things made me have a look, and I've burned through the 249 chapters in the last few days.

The main thing that I've been told regarding starting Negima is that the first part is very fanservice-laden. This is completely true. Apparently, the editors wanted this out of Ken Akamatsu, since he did Love Hina before. But, as you get past the introductions and the first few arcs, the story definitely starts evolving into the shounen manga that he wanted to make. You can see the oscillation between harem and shounen until the end of the school festival arc and the beginning of the magic world arc when it's set in its shounen fightan ways.

Apparently, the difference is so stark that people who have real copies of Weekly Shounen Magazine have been drawn to it because of this recent arc. And I've gotta say, it was a really good one.

So yeah, this is getting added to my weekly reading list.

I just read FMA 2 today for the first time. Well, I'd read it online, but it's not the same thing. Still amazing, even with Tucker(I'd say more, but I can't figure out how to put spoiler tags on).

i recently bought (and finished) Tokyo Mew Mew A La Mode volume 2, The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons, and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya volume 1. I'm not sure if I'll get any more volumes of the Haruhi Suzumiya, though, it had some questionable content.

Changed gears into shoujo and took a look at Kimi ni Todoke. I'm interested enough to follow it, but unfortunately, there appear to be no active scanlators for it. ヽ(´―`)ノ

After the few chapters of Kimi ni Todoke, I decided to knock off a shoujo manga off my list and went through Lovely Complex. I liked the dynamic between the two main leads and I liked the development of their relationship, but outside of that, all the other characters and events were annoying.

For some reason, finishing it made me decide to take a look at Rosario+Vampire. It's not amazing and really formulaic.

Since I loved Aria so much, once I found out the mangaka was doing a new series, I immediately took a look. The new series, Amanchu, seems to be another slice of life series, except instead of taking place on Mars, it's set in the real world. It seems to be about diving and the main character, Hikari, seems to be a really hyper and on-crack version of Akari.

Finally decided to go take a look at the Jinchuu arc of Rurouni Kenshin. It's no Kyoto, but it's definitely better than the anime's final third.

Also went through two shoujo manga that I ended up really liking. The first was Koukou Debut, which I liked for not having any plot events or characters that annoyed me like Lovely Complex did.

The other one was Kare Kano, which I liked for not being the same shoujo stuff that I'd been reading. It starts off pretty commonly and it reminded me a lot of Special A. There are a few surprises and it really takes a dark turn. My least favourite part is probably the longer than necessary focus on some of the other characters. This is definitely one of my favourites.

Double Arts volumes 1-3 (complete)

Well, it was a bit unintelligent of me to start a series that I knew was canceled long before completion, but for some reason I did. It turns out I was fairly justified in my choice to do so, however, because I found Double Arts to be one of the most unique shounen manga I have ever read. A bit slow, yes, and it has a romance undercurrent that probably was the source of its low ratings, but it definitely had an original twist (which, in shounen, is saying something).

Total volumes read: 179
Where an Eidolon, named night, on a black throne reigns upright.

Pluto [COMPLETE]
Wait, where's the ending?

Billy Bat 9
Wide-eyed pure-hearted Japanese protagonist? Check.
Mysterious cult? Check.
Prophecies? Check.
Disturbing use of children's images and characters? Check.
Hookers? Check.

Classic Urasawa.

Urasawa what have you done this time?

If this is in response to the end of chapter 9, I must wholeheartedly agree with you there.

For some reason, I just read the entire Ruby/Sapphire arc of the Pokemon Special manga. *headdesk* XDDDD Actually, though, it was surprisingly good... I started it just 'cause I was bored and was surprised by how engrossing it was! I think I'm going to read the rest of this series. Whenever I get over my "DDD= but earlier arcs don't have Ruby in theeeem" thing, that is. >.>;;;;

And yes, I... started reading on the fourth arc. XD;;; Heehee.

Yaaay PokeSpe!

Yeah, R/S is my favorite arc too. Ruby is the manliest man ever (not really). The Yellow arc is actually pretty good, just the characters aren't as interesting. G/S/C isn't bad either~~

I'm re-reading Monster, looking to finish it this time. I've currently got vol. 1-10 and I wanna finish but it's been a while since I've read that or, to be honest, any manga. Once I've finished Monster, I plan on picking up the first couple volumes of 20th Century Boys.
