Flyleaf?

Postby FarmGirl » Sun Mar 05, 2006 5:59 am

I heard a song a few weeks ago, and liked it. I couldn't understand many of the words, so I made a mental note to check out the lyrics later.
Long story short, I'll use post-its next time.
Saw their name on a sampler, remembered, and checked out the lyrics. They look pretty good so far. However, I'm very picky about music and will be researching this band for a while.
As far as those of you who are familiar with them know, is Flyleaf real?

Christian rock band out of Texas I belive. Had a good year in 05. Toured with Cold, got lots of exposure for a Christian band. They really seem to be taking off. Good lyrics, good sound.

And they're not just another "drop the God, emphasize the beat" band? I don't get that impression from their lyrics, just making sure.

I guess that would be about equal with all the Emphasize God, copy the beat from other bands right? *laughs* Flyleafs music is pretty good lyric wise.

It doesn't seem like they're one of the drop God bands...A few of thier songs on the full length album are pretty much worship songs.

I love Flyleaf!! My brother has their ep, but I wanna get the full length. I love the song, Cassie!
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone
And so hold on when there is nothing left in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!' ...you'll be a Man, my son!

Not quite. I'll take an unoriginal beat with lyrics straight from and dedicated to the Source over a fame-seeker's half-met croonings hefting a genius tune any day (not to say that I don't enjoy hearing a good lot of musicians going all out).

I like how this one is turning out to be. I'll check out the CD at the bookstore next time I go.

I have, and always will say...it all depends on if a band is doing what they do as a ministry....or a job. Because if there doing it as a job...nobody has any right to whine over what lyrics they use. Just don't buy there music if you feel strong enough about it. I will agree with you though if a band claims to be a ministry, then waters there music down.

Man, I love Flyleaf. I brought their cd to work one day and we listened to it, so now a few of my coworkers are hooked on them as well. They were going to come here to Falls town with Staind and Three Days Grace, but something ( I don't know what) happened and now they're not.

I fell in love with Flyleaf the first time I heard Cassie, although it's a little embarrassing when a chick can scream better than you...

Many bands don't start that way, they become it. When tours start paying them more and more. When charging fans for backstages passes gets 100 bucks a head. When the members start thinking about taking care of people in there family they have never met. It slips from being a minstry...to being a cash machine. Always be careful. Just because somthing claims its Christian...does not mean you should not do your homework on it. Somtimes people just like to use Christians like any other pool. If you knew a bunch of Anime fans, it would be wise to try to sell your product to the anime market. See what I am saying?

If you all like Flyleaf, you should check out Flee the Seen. They're a bit heavier, but Flee the Seen is also quite good.

One might find music by Flee the Seen on http://www.myspace.com/fleetheseen, or you can pick up their debut from Hot Topic and Best Buy on the cheap, for like 10 bucks.

They're pretty interesting...I'd have to listen to them a few more times to cement what I think of them.

So, IS Flyleaf a Christian band? You guys are kinda vague. My radio station played "I'm So Sick" without the screaming first, then played it with the screaming. My sister and I were taken aback, to say the least. It just plain scares my brother. We have never heard a female screamer.

I'm guessing that Flyleaf falls under that old adage of "Christians in a band" but not a Christian band. I won't speculate further, but it would probably be safe to assume that. I haven't read their lyrics, but I'm guessing that.

I'm actually seeing them tonight. I'm not a Flyleaf fan but The Showdown is opening for them, and oh, how I love me some Showdown. GIT SNAKE BIT.

I thought they were okay, but the singer killed the band. I'm not biased against female singers. Just bad female singers. I thought that she had a rather bland onstage presence, personally. She did move around and sing and whatnot, but she just seemed rather apathetic about it all.

If you listen closely to their lyric's they have a very christian base for most of the songs.
