What kind of pets do you have?

Postby rocklobster » Sat May 01, 2010 7:43 pm

A long time ago, back when was just starting on this site, I did a poll on pets. Since a lot of newbies have joined since then, I have decided to sprinkle a phoenix down on it and revive the topic.
As for me, I have had mostly dogs in my life. We started with a besingi that I don't even remember because I was too young. Then for most of my childhood well into college, I had a mutt named Bandit. He also had two cats as companions named Smokey and Fluffy, but we gave them away when we moved to Washington State (imagine the problems we'd have with three pets in a U-haul. Not a pretty picture). As an adult, we eventually got a dog named Sam, who ended up replacing Bandit (and died two years after he was born, thanks to being run over by a train:waah!:). We now have his sister, Cricket.
What about the rest of you?
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you. I appointed you to be a prophet of all nations."

The vast majority of our pets have been cats. I personally have a cat now that I live on my own - or rather, I am owned by a cat...lol. He's a black and white almost year old kitten named 'Xedo - short for Tuxedo, since his coloring makes him look like he's wearing a tux. Before I lived on my own, my parents always had a cat - and many times had several barn cats to boot - but they also had dogs, a turtle, anoles (little lizards) and at one point, even a cockatoo.

I don't have a pet :( Everyone in my family is alergic to fur (except for me!)
But when I am able to get a pet, I want a dog! A big one! I don't like small ones that much.

The term "scaredy cat" is to pedestrian a term for the schizophrenic beast that lives in my home. :)

My family has two dogs. One is named Buddy after the dog from the 'Air Bud' movies, and the other is Sunny. They are both Golden Retrievers, though neither of them do much retrieving...

We have (mainly) three dogs, a nearly 100 pound Golden Retriever who is completely nuts, a Border Collie that is smarter than me and a Pug mix that is decidedly a few fries short of a happy meal.

Not counting (among other things) the vast amount of frogs that live around here that I can't seem to help naming every time I see one.....

I have one cat living in the apartment with me named Marzipan (my avatar picture) and I have a dog in training to be my next service dog (my service dog Pebbles just retired a few weeks ago) --his name is Handsome (picture in my signature). He is currently still at the breeder's kennel and will be moving in to the trainer's soon to begin formal training.
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
