The Best Way to Spend Your Thanksgiving Break (Or, a Thread About Thriller)

Postby Radical Dreamer » Sat Nov 28, 2009 7:28 pm

What is the best way to spend your Thanksgiving break, you ask?

Well, I will tell you! I accomplished something great this Thanksgiving. Something fantastic. Something...thrilling.

That link, my friends, will take you to #5 in a series of 40 videos that can teach just about anyone how to--yes--dance the choreography to Michael Jackson's "Thriller." It's a touch different from the version you might see in the original video, only missing eight counts of choreography and a few different versions of some of the steps to make it slightly easier for beginning dancers, as well as repeats of choreography to fit the single version of the song, rather than the different version you hear when watching the video.

I thought about putting this in Jam Session, but since it's more about doing something AWESOME and not so much the song itself, I figured I'd post it here instead. XD Anyways, I wanna encourage you guys to try this! I had SO much fun, and it's really easy to learn! The instructor uses words instead of counts (as in "shoulder-step-nothing-step-shoulder-step-shoulder-step" instead of "one-two-three-four-five-six-seven-eight"), making it easy to remember what to do when the cues come in the song.

But yeah! You guys should totally try it out. Because it's awesome. And you will have fun. And it's good exercise! And it's FUN! Questions? Comments? Thoughts? Discuss!

Awesomeness. I must check this out later, because YouTube is slow. Funnily enough, at this point in my story a bunch of people are dancing the Thriller dance.

Corrie... I'm going to tell you something and I hope you get the fullest extent of how disappointed I am with you when you read this...

I have been wasting my Thanksgiving break, which is only one day from completion. All this time I could have been learning to do the Thriller and you're only now showing me the perfect way to spend my break? Only now?! I feel as though I've wasted myself!

I thought we were friends!

I managed to get 9 movies viewed (or parts of them) during the past couple of days. I feel better for it too.
"To be a good listener, you must acquire a musical culture...you must be familiar with the history and development of music, you must listen...to receive music you have to open your ears and wait for the music, you must believe that it is something you need ...to listen is an effort, and just to hear has no merit. A duck hears also." - Igor Stravinsky

Indeed, especially since my mom and I learned it together. XD Consider the title of the thread a touch facetious if Thanksgiving is too srs bznss. XD

Tsk. You're right. Sadly, I only get Christmas day itself off and that's it.

Weekends! Weekends?! Weekends! Weekends will work. XDD

Or you could just knock yourself out and learn it ALL in one day! XD It only takes about 2 hours to go through all 40 videos, not including extra practice you might need. XD

Best way? I don't know, probably not doing homework until 2 in the morning on multiple nights. Even on break...ugh. Balancing Thanksgiving with my birthday and family coming into town and still getting the aggravating homework done for my speech teacher was...interesting.

I did get two days to myself though, that was nice.

Okay, just so you guys know, this is not actually a thread about Thanksgiving and how you spent yours. XD It's a thread about doing the Thriller dance. XD Some of you seemed confused on that, so I just thought I'd clarify. XD Carry on, dudes. XD
