In America she'd have sued him for trespassing.

Both the man and the woman are around the same age --they could get married --then they could share the house together.

We have only the stereotypes to blame, for what else could have convinced this woman that it was easier to become a professional ninja than to pay rent?

That's a cross between bizarre and saddening, really. At her age she probably isn't likely to be employed at a livable wage, especially in the Japanese housing market. If she didn't live with family, I presume that is because this isn't an option for some reason. So I feel a bit guilty for finding this amusing.

Yeah, I know what you mean o.o She had to have her own reasons for doing what she did o.o

Meep.. I feel so bad for laughing now ^^; I'm pretty sure the police will get her reasoning behind her actions.. I hope o.o

That's just bizarre. Like...how does that happen? How does one not notice? Really makes me wonder about what's hiding in my house...O-o

Maybe crickets and a half-eaten cookie behind the fridge. I wonder if the lady was stalking this man?

From what little I know about the typical Japanese lifestyle, I'm guessing the guy probably was at work a lot.

But the real question is... would he have called the police if she had been cleaning his house. Now that would be freaky (or a nice surprise?). Imagine leaving your house a mess to come home and find it clean.

I think that happened, actually. XD

The police were called once when they returned home to find that there house had been CLEANED while they were gone. Turns out a maid service accidentally came to the wrong house. XD But that's a different story entirely.

How'd she get inside the apartment in the first place?

Reminds me of the time when the garbage people came into our garage and took our garbage, even though we didn't have the garbage service at the time. The guy must have been new or something....still creepy that he got into our garage (the garage door just happened to be broken....)

I felt sad when I read this. In all likelyhood, she's a perfectly intelligent woman just desperate for a place to stay. I know shelters in the US are dangerous, so it's probably true in Japan as well. I can't imagine what it must be like to have to hide in a closet for a year. How lonely.

I'm sorry for the lady; she must have been pretty desperate to come up with an idea like that. It's a bit creepy though. I mean, no matter how careful you are, you'll eventually leave some clue that you're there and that could really freak people out.

I've heard of a blind lady who had someone staying in her house, but nobody believed her at first.

I wonder if she planned which house to stay in and just how much planning went into doing this.

I don't get the joke. Is there supposed to be something not normal about living in other people's houses?

I've been secretly living in Corrie's attic for the last three years and I see nothing wrong with it.
