Why move it?

They've been re-paving the road between my house and work over the last few days. They've got this one half-mile long section where half of the road's paved, and the other half is all chopped up, but we have to drive on it anyway. Well, I was on the way home tonight. Sitting in the passengers seat, watching the freshly painted yellow line... And I saw it.
Normally, I would have discounted it as your standard roadkill, left it at that, and tried not to think about it. This time, however, something occurred to me. I thought for a minute, then whirled around in my seat and took another look. I was right.
They had painted their new lines OVER a DEAD RACCOON in the MIDDLE OF THE ROAD!!!
Sometimes, I just wonder about all these government yahoos...

I want to say I'm surprised, but at this point of my life, I'm really not.

I've seen things like this before... only they painted over inanimate objects rather than inanimate... carcasses.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAH *coughs* ok..better now
not surprised either. Although if I was one in that group, I can imagine something like this:
"I'm not touching it, YOU touch it!"
"I'M NOT touching it, YOU touch IT!"
"ok....ok NO ONE has to touch it!"
LOL

Why let good meat/fur go to waste?

Anyone seen that image where the road line goes around part of a tree that's fallen on the road?
Yeah, that comes to mind.

The first question that came to mind when I read this is...what are they going to do when the carcass has disappeared? Are they just going to leave a gap in the yellow line or are they going to send somebody out with a can of yellow paint to touch it up? It's nice to know that our tax dollars are going to support laziness...it makes me proud for some reason...

Sadly, I have seen this a few times myself... replace raccoon with possum, and that is the norm around here. They painted new lines on a back road the other day, which never had any lines to begin with, but now it has them... basically anything that was on the road got painted... tree limbs, roadkill and even a shoe.

Boy I bet you really got a kick out of this...ok that was a really bad joke...honestly I have never seen this...and now that I know its not an isolated incident...I really want to find an instance of this and just take a picture of it...it's just that amazing.

Hmm. I have an idea. Next time we find out when a road is getting painted, put random, slightly thick, objects down the middle of the road (sticks, rocks, etc.) then, when they get painted over, pick em up the next day and tada! broken line instead of solid. watch the chaos from a safe distance. :p

Remember: the people who know how to get off their butts and make money are all in business doing exactly that. That's why government people depend on taxes - they don't know how to make money themselves, so they just force people to pay. Governments, therefore, employ the lazy and the stupid. This explains the whole painting over roadkill thing.

No, a horrid idea. It will be broken lines and human roadkill. How about that?

no no. it's great. Because then they might actually pick stuff up...wait. Nope. They'll create a job just for that, instead! (thinks back to "The Terminal" clip when they created the job to return the carts. lol)
