Thankful

Postby MBlight » Thu May 22, 2008 7:02 am

I listened to Rob Bell’s “Nooma Rich” while I was working today & it was such an eye opener! He says that today over 800 000 people won’t eat, about 300 000 of those are children.

We look at the stuff we have and are so ungrateful because there is always something bigger, there is always some one with better, but the majority of the world’s people will look at my “middle class” life and it IS the perfect life! The running water you get pre-cooled from your fridge, that is clean and safe and at your beck and call, that water is something huge chunks of Africa live without, disease ridden and filthy is the water that millions of people will drink today.

I feel so ashamed that a few weeks ago I was complaining about how rubbish my car is … I am part of only 8% of the world who even have a car!!! I have a roof over my head, I have a family who love me, I have food to eat and water to drink. I have a job & I’m working towards a higher education.

These are not things I’m entitled to! There are not things that I worked hard for and deserve! These are GIFTS from GOD!

I don’t know why God chose me, but I know this: He bestows His riches upon us so that we can reach out to the weak and the poor and show them His wonder and love! I’m not yet sure how God wants to use me but I’ve readied my heart for when God chooses to, and I pray that He will put a thankfulness in your heart, and make you aware that there is so much to praise Him for! He really is the coolest God EVER!!!

I just wanted to share that….

Kya~
I completley agree!!

Just in my last class we were watching Rob Bell's "Rythym."
(yesu, I'm gettin on here from school durning my history class xD)

That was great because it talked about being "In tune" with God.
And how some people can seem like perfect christians and know EVERYTHING when it comes to God and be so "out of tune" because they don't have a real relationship with him.

And yet how someone who doesn't know can be very in tune, mostly because of how they live their day-2-day life.......

....now, My Rob Bell didn't really go along with your ounce of "Thankful-ness" but I figured I throw that out there! xD

That is so true. I feel ashamed sometimes too cause I know that I could do more to share the blessings that God has given me.We are so selfish, and self righteous that the most we do is pity the poor in third word countries or even the poor living under the city bridge.
James 1:27 (New King James Version)
New King James Version (NKJV)

27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
