Worst toy ever made

What do you think was the worst toy ever? My vote goes to the Stinkor and Moss Man action figures from Mattel's He-man line. All they do is smell!

I would have to say the Furby... my sister had one of those, and for some reason, it never turned off... it sat in a closet, continuing to talk... my mom had to smash it open and rip the batteries out to finally get it to shut up.

I was just about to say Furby! I got one for Christmas in 5th grade from Santa-- I wanted manga, but my parents didn't know how to get it. For $50, they do absolutely nothing productive.

Thread over. This wins. XDD

Anyways, I remember that my brother once had pullstring clown that was probably made by Satan. XDD That thing was really creepy, and its laugh was manic. Not in a good way, at all. XD

This thread is about the WORST toy ever.

Not the BEST.

No glass bottles don't win. To count, they have to be meant to be toys. Sorry.

Did anyone else think of Gizmo from Superbook looking at that God-Jesus robot? No? Dangit.

Well, it gets my vote anyway.

Rocklobster is a valuable member of the CAA community because he has a great sense of humor.

Except when he doesn't.

Lawn darts.

Now, honestly, when I was a kid, we played with these. You put the circles down (small hula hoops), then stood back and tossed, with great imprecision, these weighted, pointy darts all the way across the lawn.

They were meant to be a modern horse shoes, I suppose (anyone remember those?). And as kids, we never gave a second thought to it...

As did (or didn't) the manufacturer. When the ER reports of kids coming in with grave injuries to the head or eyes started proliferating, I'm sure every ambulance-chasing lawyer on the planet started stampeding to the court room. That's one patent I don't think I'd want with my name on it.

So, lawn darts are history. I'm sure you can find plenty of verbiage online about them. But I formally nominate them as "the worst toy ever made".

I nominate a certain batman squirtgun... but I can't really be comfortable linking a picture because the disign was unintentionally obscene.

Heh. I wanted one of these so badly...but my stepfather thought I would like a Sega Genesis better...

It's the one time that I can honestly say he was right about something.

Speaking of Sega...the Game Gear was a pretty bad toy. Before you start throwing rocks and raw meat, let me explain. The only thing that made the Game Gear bad was the fact that it was a battery hog.

[font="Palatino Linotype"]Well, I'd have to say one of the worst (and scariest) toys is a Jack-In-The-Box. Ya know, the one that would laugh when it popped up? Those things used to (and still do) scare me to death!

Those talking Teletubby plushies. I mean, the Teletubbies is the worst children's show ever, but the toys are pretty darn bad too. A friend of mine (we were in high school at the time) had one and we ended up defacing it. I swear that one of its phrases was "bite my butt".

I know I'm supposed to be on break from CAA...I am. I just had to comment on this one though.
This doll is called a Baby Loves to Talk doll. It was made by Toy Biz (a now nonexistent company).
THE most ANNOYING thing I have ever had! Just as bad as a Furby!
Ex: She would say: Doggie goes quack quack.
You're supposed to correct her with the correct sentence: Doggie goes woof woof.
Why couldn't she get that dogs go woof?!?

This is the link to the patent. If you register for free, you have access to the PDF --cool concept for a toy --needs some serious work to make it fun.

how about those toys...that if you squeeze them...goop comes out the rearend? O_o I NEVER understood the fun in those things...Now you really only see them as keychains...wierd thing: you get them at stores like Claire's... O_O

I'd also vote for the furby....that thing...was darned creepy if you ask me.. Although I feel REALLY bad saying it...considering I got it from my grandparents who stood in line at Walmart for a VERY long time.]

That is so awesome! I wish I'd one myself. Really, there's no issues with radiation exposure for such a set. The sort of folks who complain about something like this are the same type that killed the chemistry set.

Here's my own nominee: exploding birthday candles! These were sold a couple of years ago, and actually managed to make the news shortly after they debuted. Basically, it was a birthday candle, with a small battery and speaker. When the candle was lit, the speaker would turn on and play a very tinny version of "Happy Birthday". The problem was that if left on for too long, the battery would overheat and explode like a small bomb. I'm not exaggerating either, these things flew around with enough force to embed themselves in people's walls.

Now that I think about it...I have to agree with you, Technomancer and Pascal about the low levels of radiation however I still think this is the worst toy ever on other grounds. Mostly the fact that it was only sold for one year in the 50s...during the cold war...which makes me wonder if this toy was more about creating more nuclear physicists/engineers/people who'd make weapons for the government then fun and education...I also don't know of any parent who'd give their kid anything with any radiation levels whatsoever...that just doesn't sound too safe. However, the more that I think about it...the more that I want that comic book by Lesile Groves.

Peanut wrote:I also don't know of any parent who'd give their kid anything with any radiation levels whatsoever...

You don't know any parents who'd give their kids bananas?

When I was in Naval nuclear school, they forbade us from eating bananas before getting our internal monitoring tests done (test that shows how much radiation we've been exposed to). Bananas will throw off the reading because of the Potassium 40 in them.

Porcelain and granite also have uranium in them. Lots of things around us have radiation. Let's also not forget microwave ovens that use microwave radiation, shall we? :p

So if parents around you don't give their kids anything with any radiation levels whatsoever, what are they living in, a cardboard box? XD
