I think everyone will agree with you there. I personally am thinking of switching to linux for my next comp actually, but primarily because the windows security has more holes than swiss cheese. In case no one has heard, about 4-5 days ago they issued another "major security warning" for people to download yet another patch, I think I'm feeling a trend coming.

Yeah, I hate Microsoft as well... Then again, I'm a Mac user, so, well, I have my reasons. I would say that you should all get Macs, but I know that not everyone can nor wants to dish out the extra money for one...

It's definitely worth a little extra up front, for to having to ever fix it or replace it the next year. Plus all the software that come with it free...

nah, i'm happy with Win2k. i'll live with that for a while until i quit playing games. which i add, will be the day i die. so i'm kinda forced to use Windows...
but i won't use Longhorn. i'll use Linux then instead. probably debian.

While I'm sure all of us agree about hating Micro$oft, that last line identifies your post as. . .drumroll please. . .spam.

*sigh* Arguments about the accuracy of this statement aside (undoubtedly based on the old OS, and I'd argue that strongly -- had little trouble with OS 9.1 or 9.2.2), OS X is very stable. A lot of these baseless myths about Macintoshes die hard.
Incidentally, I know oldphil has crashed OS X a couple times, but oldphil crashes just about anything, including parties, weddings, bar mitzvahs, motorcycles, small lorries, and anything with a hard drive. This machine's last reboot was only because the power went out (it had a nice long uptime before that).

Mac OS = yes definitely!
Windows = do I hafta? Alright, fine...
If I had the cash I would be typing this from one of them G5s. I had a very good experience with the G3s and G4s in my graphics class. As a matter of fact we had ONE PC (that really really sucked) and like...6 or 7 Macs. XD
As for the new Windows blocking MP3s...uh, whatever. If they do that, somebody will find a way around it. One way or another. In any case I probably won't upgrade anyway. XP is alright I guess...besides, isn't it usually a hundred bucks just to upgrade the OS?

of course he doesn't. oh wait, maybe he wants more...
in any case, i won't be using any other OSs until i get a new harddrive; which then i'll install Debian or Red-Hat. and what kind of OS really CAN block people using Kazza? it's most likely they won't upgrade then anyway, and be happy with XP or something.
btw, XP looks like a smiley with its eyes tightly closed and tongue sticking out. just to remind everyone.
