It started as Nadine, then Dutchess (I made that one), then Phoebe, then Spooky (that's my moms, along wit Nadine). Spooky cause she's a fraidy dog who barks and spazes out at something like a squirrel or a plastic bag.

I think I already posted a picture of my dog, but here's another.

I don't have a pet right now (my parents don't really like pets), but I think I may get a pet turtle in the future or some kind of "unusual" pet.

Too small for pets in this apartment, but there are a large number of animals that live at my parents' house.

;) Oh boy, you are in for it... Let's have a lesson in Star's Pets 101, shall we?

I'll start from the "common pets".... ^_^

Cats
Angel: Siamese, sleek, well-mannered cat
Dora: The oldest, and most jealous cat alive (can be affectionate to the level of obsession in cases of dinner time, and also for me.... a new animal in the house? she does NOT like it XD)
Neko: The friendliest cat ALIVE. He purs like crazy, has to be picked up to hug and lick your face and attempt to get on your back for some strange reason... my ex-piano teacher called him her black panther ^_^
Luna: I was on the hunt for a kitten... specifically a BLACK kitten that I could name appropriately, Luna. Luna must be my favorite--she's small, huggable, sleeps with me, and the tip of her tail was broken when she was baby and flops adorably....

Dog
Itty bitty belle: A tiny, spunky, white fluff of a dog.

Rabbits
Winter: Large, friendly, white rabbit
Autumn: Small, velvety autumnal colored fur
Tauma (jewel): Sleek, small, black with velvety fur
Victor: Adorable, brown, lop-eared rabbit... :)
Star: My sweety.. white with grayish. Takes a bath and other such tortures as nail-clipping AMAZINGLY well @.@. Star's my sweety... she used to ride on my shoulders wherever I went when she was small enough to fit in my hand.

Ferrit
We used to have three, but sadly, the two died...currently we have one Albino, Precious (previously owned).

Bird
Callie: Sun Conure with a voice to make people deaf... ^_^

Okay... believe all the common ones are taken care of... lets get to the unusual ones

Ducks
Lady: Pretty mallard duck... was named "prince" but since she didn't gain the mallard pride of colors, and obviously female, it thus became Lady...
The TWINS: Two white pecan ducks with my most favorite names--Hazelnut and SnowDrop ^_________^

Sugar Glider
GIZMO!: My sweet little guy. He goes wherever I go--church, college, restaurants. He stays in my purse that has one pocket that's been renovated specially for him--or where he currently is, in a softer-clothed small puch swung across my chest sleeping. People are usually shocked but delighted to find I have him with me. When they here the noise he makes, they usually presume its a toy or something mechanical. But he is the most adorable wonderful pet alive.... He's not related to a squirel in any way that i know of (is also marsupial and nocturnal), but kind of resembles a smaller flying squriel. An attatched picture of a sugar glider is below :)

Oh, and I have a skunk... :brow:

..

..

..

Surprised? Even a little?? Okay, well, he's the latest mamber of our family--mostly my mom's. There's a long story, but the short of it is that his name is "Oreo" (I'm so proud of that name for him!), we got him at five weeks (the runt of the litter and STILL adorably small considering he's reaching 4 months and they usually grow fast). He waddles around house, my dad has made "skunk" doors (or half doors) all over to be able to keep him in certain areas--his den is in my mom's bathroom. And YES, for goodness sakes he is descented (do you get the feeling that I get asked that a lot when I tell people I have a skunk? ^_^). They're all descented at 4 weeks before they're brought to the pet shops.

Oh... and he cost 300 BUCKS! Our first skunk was 250. At these prices, no WONDER more people done have skunks! :shake:

Alright, well that concludes Star's Pets 101. I hope you enjoyed the course. Below is a course reference webpage you can go to in which click on "pets" for a pop up on a bunch of pictures of Gizmo and Oreo. If you're too lazy or short on time, I attatched just one Gizzy and two of Oreo (I HAD to show one of him bottle feeding..). ^___^ http://starinmypocket.net/Stargirl.htm

yeah Gizmo's great but let me ask you some questions, does he multipli if you get him wet? does he burst into flames if hes exposed to sunlight? and also, does he turn into a gremlin if he's fed after midnight?

LOL. No Lightbringer. Gizmo posesses none of those qualities. hehe

And Shinja, Oreo does actually go on walks! He follows you around EVERYWHERE. When my mom goes outside to walk our dog, Oreo just follows her around her feet. My dad isn't fond of this quality, and I can understand to a degree, because he follows so closely and goes between your legs so much its hard not to trip over him or step on him somehow... ^__^;;;

Speaking of pets, I have to confess this. I felt so horrible this morning after it happened:

Abby, my sweet little kitten, loves to sleep on my bed. I have a full size one, so it's not an issue. I'm also known for changing pillows during the night, and this morning around oh, 6:30 I half-wake up (biological habit due to school) and promptly flop back down on the other pillow...at the same time, Abby is jumping over me, so we smack heads mid-air and poor Abby did a backflip and fell off the edge of my bed.
I felt so horrible.
Now, I said she was kinda dumb, and this proves it. She climbed back up and started purring against my arm again like it never happened. Most things would get as far away from me as they could.

Interesting pets, Star. That sugar glider is awfully cute! That would be a cool pet to have. Can it actually jump and glide? I don't know about a skunk--I guess if it was born and raised in captivity it would be OK. It's about like having a ferret, I suppose.

Oh WOW

I'll start with the smallest:

My son has a Rose Hair Tarantula. (deceased)

We have 7 canaries -- 4 born on the premises. (one died)

We have an African Gray Parrot named: Beaker. Yes, she talks.

We have 10 cats! Three others (strays) outside my daughter feeds. (1 died)

And finally we have a wonderful Golden Retriever, named Jemimah.

Most of the animals are no bother. But we have four young female cats -- who really need an operation!!! (spayed successfully -- they are better pets now with no negative health repercussions) :shake:

When I was young (on a farm) we NEVER had inside pets. Most of the years I was a Mom we only had small pets (if any): a hamster, and a pair of guinea pigs (who had litters). Those pets are all dead or given away.

So that's a total of 20 pets. (17 now) :shake:
(unless I forgot one???)

Eep. I better not talk TOO much about this. When I grew up, we had 2 dogs (OK they were poodles, you don't have to tell me they aren't dogs. They hated me and bit me, and then my best friends ridicule my childhood by telling me they weren't dogs. I need gnu frie... never mind.) I also went through, hang on let me count... Holy Crap! 15 cats. You see, we had these big dogs next door... I don't wanna talk about this, acutally... When my father re-married in college, he inherrited (so-to-speak) my step-mother's ****-a-tu, or however you spell it. If you've seen my entries on 'life's lessons' pages, you know what happens next. Just don't EVER encourage anyone to upgrade to USB if their pets like to chew on cables.

I'll get over it... Some day...

in my house i have a dog, modigan (its swedish for 'brave") but her name has been shortened to modig, then moody, then moo, and now she's just "hun" or "pup" or "black".

we have a cat, who hates me with every fiber in his being. i named him mickey mouse. maybe thats why he doesn't like me. i would throw him in the pool, and then at night when i came downstairs he would run in front of me and i would trip and fall. its a give and take relationship.

but i have adopted various pets throughout my extended family so here's a complete list of "my" pets. they don't live with me but everyone says that theyre mine.

dogs: modig, my lazy fat doggie.
granite, my grandmas fat doggie
max, my aunts dog

cats: micky, my evil cat
spice, my cousins cat
thunder and lightning, my neighbors kittens.
chance (or mikchew), my neighbors tomcat who is the biggest cat in the world.
not to mention my family in eugene- there's evan, boo, tinkerbell and her five kittens.

fish: IceFlame (or iceman) white betta
Vicious (sp?) red betta
and the currently unnamed goldfish- my sister won't make up her mind. he's been everything from "the man" to "goldilocks".

i think thats about it... there was a ferret and a rabbit tossed in the mix as well.

Cats aren't exactly there to be useful though. Unless you got them to be mousers or something. Other than that they're just there to look pretty and sleep and eat. I love cats...

I have a sheltie named Sebastion ( I did NOT name him), a cocker spaniel named Angel (Her full name is Christmas Angel), and a cat named Nala ( I got her in 2nd grade and the Lion King was huge then).
Yeah, cats are good-for-nothings. I love mine anyways, even if she does take up most of my bed and likes to kill bugs and bring them to me. Yuck!

Hmm... the pets we have:

Simon (picture 1 below) - Tan Tabby with Siamese-like brown points. Real friendly and easy-going. Perfect host cat and welcoming commitee chair. Had him for 5 years. He has a chronic kidney problem which makes it challenging to keep him full of fluids and eating well, but his loving, almost overbearing personality is more than worth it.

Skittles (picture 2 below) - Grey and white striped shorthair. Same age as Simon, since we got both of them at the same time from a friend who had various kittens; they are from different litters, though they treat one another as littermates. He's friendly to whom he 'chooses' as his 'pride'. He still has yet to get along with Shadow (see below) but he tolerates him enough to not kill him when we're not looking. If he's not hiding when you pay us a visit, then you're 'special'! ;2)

Shadow (pic 3 below) - Black as midnight medium hair tabby (except for a star-shaped white patch on his lower tummy). He is a year younger than the previous two cats listed. He's also our resident neko no ninja, who's ability to suddenly appear and disappear in front of our own eyes still leaves us perplexed. He's a part-time troublemaker and part-time luvvy-duvvy cat. He's a year younger than Skittles and Simon, though despite that he still asserts his extra girth (all 18 pounds of it) when feeding time comes around.

Birdie (pic 4) - Yellow Crested Cockatiel. A 'gift' from a former college student, Birdie would not have been our choice of 'original' names for this spunky, noisome, but altogether tame, attractive, and loving bird. He's really bonded with me, though sometimes will tolerate my wife when she has food in her hand. He has this foot/shoe fetish that we just can't explain, but it's quite a conversation piece when he's singing a loving and heartfelt lullaby to your favorite stinky Nike shoe. We think he's about 7 years old, which is shy of middle age for this type of bird.

Maxine (not pictured) - Dark Brown/Black Hamster - She was a product of a hamster breeding between two other hamsters that my wife had, and the only hamster of the litter with such a different fur coat (the rest were the usual dun/tan). At first she was Maxwell, but after getting a little older, sexing her effectively changed that name's gender. ;2)

We also have some goldfish, a catfish, and a frog, all living in he little fish tank, and no I don't have a snapshot of that (yet).

Anyways, that's the little go-through of the DanekJovax household. ;2)

Ja!

Wait! Before you lynch me... :?: I'm just kidding! I really do love cats. Mine is a beautiful green-eyed gray tabby named Gemini (because she was a twin). Unfortunately, she lives with my parents, since our apartment complex doesn't allow pets. :stressed: And yet the landlords allow their three little boys to run around screaming like banshees.... Worse than a barking dog, in my opinion. :bang:

Past pets (that were really mine) include: a German Shepherd mix named Nikki, a lovely little green snake named Ophelia, and a horse named Little Bit (who was more a friend than a pet, really). I miss my animals! :sniffle:

DanekJovax -- my mother-in-law's bird had a thing for shoes too... except he would viciously attack them! Who knows what transpires in their little bird brains... :dizzy:
