I have a question...

Talk about anything in here.

*Loses the "gaudy" font.* Ruroken: I concur with you that it is horrendous how much nudity has been acceptable in movies, television programs, and the like. It's also appalling how many vulgar words are suddenly acceptable on public television! But you must understand that God created us naked, and there is nothing sinful or corrupt at all to view a small portion of it if you're not affected by it. There is nothing in the Bible in opposition to that. Above that and beyond, we're all Christians aside for the little atheists that joined to stir up conflict, and recognize the potential outcomes of watching explicit anime. Ask your parents, pastor, or Sunday school teacher and I'm positive they'll respond just as everyone else here has...

I would moreover like to adjoin that we are warned, Biblically, not to engage ourselves in such entertainment habitually for the possibility that we all could "fall"...

Hmm... Lluvia, you're probably new, so you don't know that the "swearing" issue is a "no-discuss" issue. And the Bible warns us to stay away from what we're weak in, which is different for everyone. Therefore, for her (Ruroken) to be condemning people based on this matter which is for her a personal conviction, she is violating rules and is being rather unbiblical. I tried explaining it, but I can't do that because my explanations get ignored. I got ignored by a landslide in the "swearing" debate, but I'm neither alone nor in the minority in this issue. Ruroken has managed to insult and belittle a lot of people, and about something that is not biblically founded. Therefore, this needs to stop.

For Ruroken to be upset by a movie is her business, but her condemnation of people who don't hold the same convictions as her is definately wrong. I'd urge you to read Paul's letters. For biblical "grey areas" (though I don't like that term) there are people that will fall into one or another category. For one to condemn the other is WRONG... Paul said it was wrong. So, I am just being vocal where others were silent. I, along with many others, wish that Ruroken would not continue this. She is in the wrong and is causing dischord. She is stirring up an argument and it needs to stop.

I must say this applies to the gun issue... An issue that's not solidly biblically based (I.E. Condemnation or acceptance of guns) should not be argued as such. It's about personal convictions, and the demonizing of people who don't agree with you is just plain wrong when it's an issue that is not a Biblical absolute.

You were trying to be more diplimatic than I was, but I think this needs to be closed...

EDIT: Join date of aug 2003? THen you're not new... Well, in case you didn't know, anyhow, the "swearing" issue is a no discuss issue... It causes too many problems. And this issue (Ruroken's thread) is DEFINATELY more problem causing than the "swearing" issue.

Another point, on that issue, is that if we don't spend some time (for the sake of argument, let's say 1/7 of the time) relaxing and doing no work, you won't be able to use the other time (6/7) effectively, so you end up losing more than if you had "wasted" that time watching the anime.

That's not to say you should spend all your time on something so trivial, however even in days you work, you should relax for part of them. SO, a little of every day in a week, and all of one day in a week should be devoted to rest (not merely sleeping and eating) so that you can effectively use the rest of your time.

*Smiles* Very eloquently put, Philb, Bob. Ruroken... don't ever try to earn any kind of degree in Art if you don't want to see nudidty. In acquiring my graphic design degree, I had to take a Life Drawing class. Life Drawing classes are all about drawing naked people in order to learn body-structure.

Of course, I wasn't turned on in the least by the 50 year old woman we had as a model. I don't think anyone was. From what I have heard from other art students, most of the people who do modeling for art classes for the low pay... do not tend to have the best bodies - they tend to be like most of us... physically imperfect speciemens, just not so hung up on showing themselves.

I certainly didn't think it was a sin to draw this naked lady in learning how to draw human structure... nor do I think it is a sin for me to look in art books of naked bodies to see how muscles and torsos work. I think I'd like to get an anatomy book to help me with that... probably next time I go to the bookstore...

Just... if you are THAT offended by nudity... um... don't take art in college, okay?

To Ruroken - I'd recommend taking a look at Madphilb's post in this thread - http://www.christiananime.net/forums/showpost.php?p=90940&postcount=59

Also, check out Romans 14. Paul has a lot to say about personal convictions there.

As far as this thread is concerned, I think it's time for it to be locked. We've reached the stage where people are rehashing the same things over and over.

edits in - Ruroken asked me to post this:

:red: make sure they know i had no intention making anyone angry or upset. everything's jsut so wrong these days. i dont know what to beleive most of the time. I almost wish we didnt have internet or television. I did go to far though. I guess it's none of my buisiness if anyone wants to watch an explcit anime. al i can to is pray that they dont fall into sin. i'll be more carefull not to anger anyone if there ever is a next time.
at least they'd agree that sex has no buiseness wahtso ever on a tv screen.
