Fears

Talk about anything in here.

Postby Spencer » Tue Jan 20, 2004 2:07 pm

Hmm...

- Most bugs.
- Being sick. Not just with a cold or anything, like seriously sick.
- People getting the wrong idea about me.
- Acting/performing in front of a large audience.
- Not noticing something really embarrassing.

I don't think I really have any spritual fears. I'm pretty confident about that. :thumb:

my fears :

-COCKROACHES ! HATE THEM BIG TIME! one time, i was changing in my room, and like my clothes were on the floor and i picked them up and a cockroach crawled on my arm and i FREAKED big time!!!!!!!!!! AHHH i couldnt or WOULD NOT go in my room until my dad killed it and when he would spray the bug stuff. ughh... *shivers* i hate them..
- Failing- yea this is a biggie.. even though i sometimes slack on my work, it just means that it isnt important as a major test or something.. like i had a test today in Science and my teacher did not tell us this verbally, just wrote it on the board .. and of course, i dont look at the board! pPshh who cares! lol anyways, and I refused to take the test. (but i had to take it anyways)
- nightmares
- failing confirmation
- death (but kinda happy. at least i get to be with the coolest person ever!!!)

Boy, you seem to be in sync with some spiritual issues I had in the past. What always comforted by when I felt I was too horrible to return to God (or that he would turn away from me and ignore me because I was so horrible to Him) was the fact that you know, God knows everything. That means before he even created us, He knew every sin we'd ever commit, including turning away from Him or being unfaithful. So He knew all of that, knew all the pain it would cause Him, and still chose to undergo the cross. So you can't suprise him by doing the unforgivable! He already knows every bad thing you will ever do, and with that knowledge, still says "the LORD your God goes with you].

Here's some other great comfort verses:

and here's an especially poignant one for me: For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. [Rom 8:38]

So see! God loves you very deeply and promises many, many times not only to never forsake you, but never to hold your sins against you. He even promises to seperate us from our sins as far as east is from west.

I think it's a logical conclusion to say that if God will never leave us or revoke our salvation, He certainly won't let Satan do anything to take it away either. Sure, he will stumble us and try to make us fall, but remember we are "more than conquerors" in Christ! That means through Him, we can stomp Satan. I'll be praying for the Lord to grant you confidence to stand up to Satan and not fear him...like I've mentioned before, I've been terrified of some of the very same things. I sincerely hoped this helped you.

I'm aware that God knows everything, that he knows every sin I'll ever commit, but does he know whether we go to Heaven or Hell? If he does before we were created, then it seems as if we were made just to go to Hell...that contradicts the Bible in what it says about a kind, loving God. Not that I don't think he is one, but I've wondered about this before...

I fear God. He rules over all. Heaven is His throne and Earth His footstool. Every being will one day be judged by His son. He has promised to cast the unrighteous into a pit of eternal darkness were the thirst is never quenched and the worm never dies. His direct prescence alone can kill you. He's a being beyond our understanding, infinite in his being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, righteousness and truth. He can destroy not only the body, but the soul as well. He sees all and knows all. He knows when I sit and when I lie. If I make my bed in Hell, He is there. If I ascend into Heaven, He is there. He knows my every sin.

What more could you fear?

I have an axiety condition, so I guess I fear life sometimes.
Maybe our mistakes are what make our fate. Without them, what would shape our lives? Perhaps if we never veered off course, we wouldn't fall in love, or have babies, or be who we are. After all, seasons change. So do cities. People come into your life and people go. But it's comforting to know the ones you love are always in your heart. And if you're very lucky, a plane ride away.

Hmmm... I don't have many everyday fears; I'm not generally fearful about things. I don't usually think about them, but there are some things that would be really awful if they happened:

Being trapped in a fire
Drowning
Being raped
A family member or myself getting seriously ill (but strangely, I'm not really afraid of dying)
Having to live in a very cold place (I'm a California girl, through and through)
Having to work for mean people again
Failing miserably at my art career
Being betrayed by someone I really trusted (I already have a hard time trusting people)
Betraying someone else
Psycho people who commit random acts of violence

What I'm NOT afraid of that some others are:

Tarantulas
Snakes
Dogs
Horses
(hmmm, I sense a theme here)
Heights
Flying
Being abandoned by God (I'm unconcerned about that, probably to a fault)

Oh, well if you wanna get macabre:

Torture, especially the one were they pull your teeth out

My computer screen exploding in my face, feeling those shards of glass in your eye as they wiggle around - stuck in the muscles

Breaking my leg in a greenstick, then having the bones work like scissors as they slice through tendons and muscles.

Finding out I'm shooting blankes. (O c'mon, deep down, you men are too)

Watching David Lynch movies.

Things that I'm scared of:

Cars: Yeah, I think cars are evil. They kill people every day, and people aren't very nice drivers in Manchester. Apparently 3 people got killed in seperate incidents on our road last year.
People who like to start fights when they go out: Most people go out to have a good time but there are some people who go out in the evening just to start fights. These people are scary.
Large, random deductions from bank account: One day you think you have the money, next day you don't.
Forgetting to revise things: Everyone stands outside the exam room talking about an aspect of the subject I didn't revise.. this is quite scary.
Certain aspects of the Linux OS: Goes without saying.

I'd say the no.1 thing I fear spiritually is one day going off the rails and walking down the wrong road -- away from God.

Oh, it ain't so bad. Later, you can scare people by putting your false teeth in their stew.

My computer screen exploding in my face, feeling those shards of glass in your eye as they wiggle around - stuck in the muscles

Remember: When surfing the internet, it's important to wear safety goggles.

Breaking my leg in a greenstick, then having the bones work like scissors as they slice through tendons and muscles.

I don't know what a greenstick is, but I get the impression you watch a lot of horror films.

Finding out I'm shooting blankes. (O c'mon, deep down, you men are too)

Wow. And I thought the first three came out of left field.

Watching David Lynch movies.

Just turn down the sound and go MST3K style on it.
