Billboards

Postby Azier the Swordsman » Mon Dec 08, 2003 3:26 pm

I got this in my email recently: enjoy!

New billboards are getting attention in Arizona. Some reported seeing one or two messages, but the newspaper listed all of them. Here's a list of all variations of the "God Speaks" billboards. The billboards are a simple black background with white text. No fine print or sponsoring organization is included. These are awesome ... enjoy.

We have one of those here in town. They're fairly entertaining, but is it just me, or do one or two kind of put you off? Some of the quotes make it sound like God is rather arrogant or vengeful, and I dunno, that rubs me the wrong way. That's not how I picture my Lord, and certainly not how I'd want to introduce Him to others.
Anyway, cute post.

Yeah, I've seen one of those where I live. Can't remember which one it was, I'll have to look next time.

EDIT: I THINK it's the bestseller one, but I'm uncertain.

I see a few that I wouldn't agree with. I don't think I've seen any of those in my state where God is speaking, but I am sure they're around. I do know of some billboards that talk about going to church. I'm sure those of us who have driven on I-65 between Birmingham and Montgomery know what I'm talking about. The only one of the few that I can name off the top of my head is "Go to church or the Devil will get you!" Pretty threatening, but it did pose an interesting discussion for my Sunday school class one time...

Almost all of those quotes you listed can be found on Godspeak T-shirts. I actually have a few of them my self! The Godspeak shirts can be found in CBB. As for billboards, in my little town. *ROLF* No way! ^_^ I think we have like 2 billboards. :) :D

I've seen some of those billboards while driving around the country, although I have never seen one in the Old Dominion (that's Virginia, for those that don't know :P). The best was during a long stretch of construction. There was a different billboard every few hundred feet, moving you toward the end. I don't remember what any of them said though...

Who actually pays for them? Where can you the shirts?

CBB= Christian Book Bargins, a magazine my mom gets, well it's not really a magazine. It's a catalog full of books, and veggietale stuff, and movies, and shirts, and Bible covers, and homeschooling stuff. It's pretty cool! (And music too!)

I've seen about 2 or 3 of those on some billboards near my church. I like the last one as well, very entertaining it is.

Like Andyroo and Ashley, I don't think God is like that. In fact, they make me wince. I'm not being stuck up or anything, I just do not like them.

Where's the "Heaven is your throne and Earth your footstool"?
