Echidnas are awesome. Australia has echidnas, Europe has porcupines and North America has Hedgehogs.
When I was in the Grampians National Park (in Victoria, Australia) an Echidna charged through the bushes like a small, slow and spiky rhino and licked all the ants off my boots. Very cool. I patted him too, but that was a bit stupid of me, I could have been spiked.
