I figure I'll be the only one here to talk about this (since I'm sure no one else here has even heard about it), but recently I got my Ultra Dessert set of Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero?

I must say I love this game. The sense of humor, the voice acting, the platforming, it's all fantastic. It's a fun little game, BUT MIND-NUMBINGLY HARD.

For the uninitiated, this is kind of a sidestory to the Disgaea games. You play as the Prinny Squad, which are kind of like servants to the demons of the Netherworld. The goal is to collect ingredients for the Ultra Dessert to replace the dessert that was stolen from Etna, your boss. You don't have to have played the Disgaea games to enjoy this (though it helps as far as knowing some characters and the like).

And the music! The music is exceptional, and the game even comes with its own soundtrack (unfortunately, not a FULL soundtrack, but it has 20 tracks, which is pretty good). A couple of my favorites would have to be the tutorial stage and Death's Watchtower, probably my favorite track in the game.

Anyone else care to come rant about how ridiculously hard this game is? I HATE WHOEVER DESIGNED THE PUZZLE FOR TORN LETTER 10.

I had heard about this game. It looked interesting however I don't think I'll pick it up since it's for the PSP and I don't have a PSP or the will to go out and buy one right now...

This game is the second reason I plan on buying a PSP, the first being the Metal Gear Acid series. Hopefully I'll get enough money to buy a PSP.

Because I don't want to waste my money on a system that has maybe 3 or 4 games I'm interested in when I could spend it on something else (like books for college...or more games)? Yes...I fail for realizing that I shouldn't pay for something. Guess I'm just a massive pot of failure...

Anyway, no, I am not playing this game, which is a shame because it is amazing. I'll have to be content to read the GameFAQs page listening to the soundtrack in the background.

I love disgaea for the DS and if I had a PSP I would definitely get it.

Well, I said fail with the assumption you said that and you own a DS. I could be wrong.

As for as people crapping on the game library: Quality over quantity.

Every PSP game I own has extremely high replay value.
I own 4.
I may purchase 6 at the most. Who would toss money for like 30 games on one system?

DS has a huge amount of games.
However, very few, in my opinion, are above average.

Actually I do own a DS, and it is another reason why I don't buy a PSP. Not because I necesarily believe it has superior games but because I have trouble justifying my purchase of a it as it is (in the last few years...I haven't been much of a handheld gamer).

As for the quality/quantity argument, I'll only say this much...Nintendo has really turned down their quality control since the Wii came out...I don't see how some of these "games" (My Smoking Coach comes to mind...) make it onto any systems at all.

Well, to bring this thread back on-topic -- I have Prinny. And it's my favorite game on the PSP so far aside from remakes of older games (Disgaea, SO, SO2, Tactics). I immediately jumped in with the Hell's Finest difficulty (Prinny always dies in one hit). I got to the 8th or 9th stage before running out of lives.

I'm now working on another playthrough, also in Hell's Finest mode, and learned that the conversations before and after the boss battles vary depending on what order to take the stages in. Most of them are hilarious. Having played as much as I have already, I've now cleared the first 3 stages on my replay and still have 850+ lives, which is a heck of a lot better than I did the first time around.

I'm a wimp...I can only do Standard mode, though I have done a couple of stage runs on Hell's Finest. Here's a question, though...in the Battle Data from the Data Manager, it has a category called "Highest 'No Mistake' number (Hell's Finest only)." Mine is currently at 0. I had THOUGHT this meant the number of stages completed on Hell's Finest without dying...but the problem is, I did that Nethergrassland stage or whatever on Hell's Finest without dying. Yet my number still says zero. Why? :\

Also I really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really REALLY hate Torn Letter 10. I can do it fine up until the part where you have to dash, then jump left, then straight up in midair and grab the ledge. I always get that one too short, or too low.

I'm borrowing it from the J man.
I actually find it wicked fun.

I skipped all the story's sequences.
Something tells me I wouldn't find this plot interesting.
It's a freaking penguin that cuts things.
That's all I need to know.

Yeah if you're skipping the cutscenes you're missing out on at least 80% of what makes the game so fun.

Playing the game without Cut-scenes is sort of like watching a video of your favorite band playing with the volume on 0.

I personally would argue that it's not true for MGS. The MGS series has a fair amount of depth even without the story.

I can understand how it could be funny but I would love for some to explain to me how you can "have fun" watching those cutscenes.

Actually, I don't want to know.

But yeah, I don't consider those scenes funny.
To each his own I guess.

Fact is, game is fun, addicting, and mindblowingly challenging.
I dig it.

Eh, it's also possible that a large chunk of the humor is lost on those who haven't played any of the Disgaea (or related) games.

I never got around to playing Disgaea so that explains it.
I heard those games are really good though.

Disgaea is good besides the insane ammount of grinding and useless Clerics (though there is a trick to getting around this...)
