One Must Fall: 2097.

Best. Fighting game. Ever.

[edit] Oh, why. Because it involves robots, anime-style graphics, and it has no blood in it so no gore what-so-ever. Perfect for playing with your little cousins when they visit around.

Favorite of all time, probably Super Street Fighter. Huge selection of characters, all the bosses, good graphics, and just before the implimentation of the combo and tag team stuff. Not that those were bad, I just like the simpler times. X-men Vs. Street Fighter probably comes in second, then Killer Instinct.

Favorite fighters
Ken
Vega
Dhalism (Rubber Man)
Wolverine
Fulgore
T.J. Combo

The Guilty Gear series looks really good, it is on my list of games to try.
Does anyone have the SF anniversary collection yet? Sounds really awesome, pitting each version of each character against all the characters from the series.

Fighting is one of my favorite video game genres. Here are my favorites:

Street Fighter EX3-I like the characters that are unique to the EX series, especially Garuda and Shadow Geist.

Capcom vs. Snk-Tons of characters from the two best 2d fighting game companies. The ratio system makes for interesting (and balanced) matches. My favorite team is Sagat and Haohmaru.

Soul Calibur 2-Awesome graphics, lots of strategy, and still simple enough that a button-masher can win occasionally. My favorite characters are Mitsurugi, Voldo, and Necrid (and an honorable mention goes to Nightmare, but only in his third costume  ).

Power Stone 2-A classic that should be brought back on the next-gen systems. The whole "everything is a weapon" concept makes for a fun and unique game.

Tekken 4-Not as many characters as I would like (bring back Ogre!), but still fun. My favorite characters are Steve, Bryan Fury, and Lee (but not violet :eyeroll: ).

Now a question: what was the first fighting game you ever played? My first was Mortal Kombat for the Game Gear. I remember that it was the coolest thing at the time, with two movies (the first was pretty good, the second was terrible), multiple sequels, a cartoon, and all of the other merchandise that goes along with such things. I even read the Mortal Kombat novel  .

If I had an X-Box, I would definitely have that game. It looks great, and it has online play! Hopefully more fighting games will follow that example and include online capability in future titles :thumb: .

Personally, I've always liked the SNK games the best. I love Samurai Showdown and usually pick Nakoruru or Haohmaru. I also like Fatal Fury, King of Fighters...I think Terry Bogard could beat the crap out of Ryu and Ken any day of the week.

I like Darkstalkers (I play Felicia or Morrigan), and I also enjoy Capcom vs. SNK 2. My team is Terry Bogard, Nakoruru, and Mai. I wish they'd bring CVS: Chaos over to America (even though there's two versions, one by Capcom and the other by SNK), if for no reason other than to play Zero.

Finally, I'm almost ashamed to admit it, but the first fighting game I played was Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: The Fighting Edition for SNES. But you wanna know something? Honestly, it's not that bad (except for the music).

I have always loved fighting games!
But, for me, they are only really fun when you have some one to play against who is as enthusiastic as you are. Playing the computer gets boring and predictable, while playing against some one who could-care-less is just frustrating.

I still remember the first fighting game I ever played. My father worked at Stratton Mt. and the family got seasons passes because of this. Anyway, there was an arcade down stairs in one of the lodges, and I would go down and play games after I ate my lunch. (Its not good to ski on a full stomach).
Then, one day there was a new game… King of Fighters. What a totally cool game!!! My brother and I would go down a play that game of hours. It was just so cool!

Since then I have always enjoyed fighting games. I probably got in to Tekken the most, but SNK games are still my favorite 2D fighters.
Unfortunately, I now have no friends who enjoy fighting games as I do. So its usualy just me and the computer hashing it out.

Though, when I had Tekken3, my wife would play with me… She just loved that little dinosaur Gon! She was pretty good too, I taught her how to make him fart and shoot fire and spin. She would be cracking up the whole time.
That was fun.

Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.
- J. Hudson Taylor
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

For me, I would have to say the Tekken series. It has a whole lot of different kinds of characters and fighting, and with the last one you can move around a lot more. It is fun to go against your best buddies and be able to brag. 'Course, when they win, I am still okay with it.

Dead or Alive 3 is my favorite fighting game. (Dead or Alive Ultimate will most likely be my favorite when it comes out.) Anyone who says it's a button-masher needs to edjumakate themselves.

I also like Soul Calibur 2. I mean, c'mon. It has weapons!

Actually they had identical move sets on the Dreamcast version. Nightmare and Siegfried (along with Rock/Astaroth, Lizard Man/Sophitia, etc.) had the same moves, just with different "skins." Of course the secret characters got unique moves in the sequel, but that was not the case on the Dreamcast.

Still, the only proper way to play Nightmare is with his 3rd (Siegfried) costume.

Fighting Games are awesome! I miss the old arcade days.

Soul Calibur 2 is probably my all time favorite and Mitsurugi is probably my best character. Next down the road comes DoA 3.... Ryu and either Russian martial artist dude are my best, there. At the old arcade, I was awesome at Tekken 3 using Law. Yes, and of course, Super Smash Bros. Melee. Go Fox! Most of the time, I get really bored using the same character, so I normally pick at random.

Anyways, I've played a lot of fighting games, but those are the ones I was actually good at and invested time into.

Soul Caliber 2: Taki (Speed)
Street fighter: Ryu or Ken
Marvel v. Capcom 2: War Machine, Strider Hyru, Spiderman, megaman, ryu, and Wolverine (Just works for me i guess... War Machine + proton cannon = well, you can probably guess) I like the character cast too.
Super Smash Brother's Melee: Roy and Zelda (They work for me for some reason...)

Not in One Must Fall, it makes sense because the fighting characters are really robots, which are all around 90ft tall. Of course they can throw other robots around.

My personal favourites would have to be.
Soul Caliber II (The best weapons fighting game ever made)
Marvel Vs. Capcom II (Fast paced 3 person tag team fun frenzy)
Dead or Alive 3 (awesome array of styles and tag combo moves)
Powerstone 2 (Great all around experience with amazingly satisfying moves and specials)
*all of these also have amazing replay value*

Eh, he takes some getting use to. After a while, he is actually pretty fun to play with... just ignore his screams.

I agree.

I see how you earned the title "Super Ninja Jedi Mod."

For me, with 2D, I am a big SNK fan, so King of Fighters, Garou: Mark of the Wolves, Samurai Shodown series, Last Blade series, and many others are on my list. Of course, I still like Capcom fighters a lot too, so Street Fighter series (Go Chun-Li!), and any of the VS. series (Go Chun-Li!). Also, Guilty Gear series from Sammy should also be mentioned.

For 3D, I am a big Tekken fan, and I am very eager to see Tekken 5. Soul Calibur 2 is great. Has anyone mentioned Virtua Fighter 4? That is a great 3D fighting game.

I guess Super Smash Bros. Melee also falls in this category. Fantastic game.

Yeah, I really like this genre.
Find me on Steam, PlayStation Network (OmegaAmen), Backloggery, Twitter, and Twitch.tv
