Are violent videogames preparing kids?

A class at my school was watching the onion movie in class, and I slipped in, mostly because they have a nice, comfy couch in the back of the class and I wanted some rest.

The onion movie was freaking disgusting at one part, at least... Maybe more, but I didn't see the whole thing.

I love the show on youtube / myspace, though. My favorite is "Anonymous donor donates 200 kidneys" or something like that... forget the number, but it was high. Black comedy is fun.

I always play berserker... But, man, I could sure take on some people in straight jackets with a stick with a nail on the end... Grammar.

I beg to differ. I now know how to defend myself against zombies, giant spiders, evil sorcerers, dinosaurs, etc. I've learned lots of things, actually.

1. Certain songs played on ocarinas can enable you to do all kinds of things. I'm still practicing with my ocarina, but I'll figure it out.

2. Zombie bites can be cured by smearing grass on the wound.

3. You should always pick up everything that isn't nailed to the ground.

4. Keep a turtle shell in your vehical at all times, just in case you need to get around the person in front of you fast!

5. Typhoons might destroy my crops and fences, but my buildings will always remain in tact.

Other good lessons from video games:

1. If one of your friends is about to go off by himself or get himself killed, make sure you take all his equipment so that even if you can't use it you can sell it.

2. If dying is not an option, always, always come back to the dungeon when you have more hearts/heart containers.

3. Never overextend your party so that your archer/mage/healer gets surrounded.
3.a. Always double check attack ranges!

4. If you steal something, make sure no one is around to catch you.

5. Flashy and flagrant fighting styles are always superior to efficient strokes and conservation of ammunition.

1. Anything can be done if you know the magic codes.

2. Whenever something evil gets close to you ominous music will play, warning you.

3. All you need to survive absolutely anything is 1: A sword 2: A crowbar and 3: A bag of holding.

4. Killing evil creatures will result in money and equipment dropping from their dead bodies.

5. Civilians can't be hurt so don't worry about your aim!

That... is... awesome, and sad at the same time. Poor kids. But, at least knew they could fight it. Longlasting fear comes from situations you have no control over. If they could fight the zombie off, it may actually give them more courage... Maybe.

There is no better teaching tool for how to get through a zombie invasion than the X-box game Stubbs the Zombie afterall why fight the invasion when you can join it. :evil:

At first I was like, "..." but when I saw it was an Onion report, I lol'd.

As for the question of this thread, no. Things will not be as easy in real life as they are in the video games where you can find money lying on the ground. Though I have to say the fact that the kids will know what weapons to use IS a handy skill when facing a 6 foot long irradiated beetle. lol

Oh and by the Gundam fan, Don't forget about Halo. (I'd jump at the chance to become a spartan. :grin:

Although ruthlessly ruling over a magicial kingdom with minions and mistress like in Overlord would be great to.

I don't know Robin my OverLord gets things done I slaughtered an entire village today without any help that was fun and man those villagers went up like they were made of straw when used a fire spell on them. :evil:

Depends on the world. :p

Birthright was a D&D campaign where you were allowed to play as the ruler of a country, and you got some pretty sweet powers for doing so. In fact in most D&D worlds the kings are pretty friggin' powerful.

The tradition continued even into the modern day in games like Final Fight where the mayor, Mike Haggar, could beat the crap out of everyone he came across.

I'll agree with Robin on one thing, Adventures are FUN.

If I had to pick an action/adventure game to be in, it would be Metroid. Master Chief is like Microsoft's equal to Samus Aran. But I still think Samus is greater then Master Chief. Acid/Lava proof suit, able to breath/move in water freely, a mess of energy tanks, somewhat unlimited ammo, and quite a few other things. We're not in a debate though so I'll just get to my point. Becoming a space bounty hunter with an awesome power suit, your own space ship, and the ability to take out a whole fleet of space pirates (not that Master Chief couldn't do that) While having cool adventures exploring an alien world, is pretty cool.

I think I'll switch to being a Space bounty hunter with a Chozo power suit. (Besides, if I'm correct, I believe it's a bit of a painful process to become a spartan. :sweat:

)

It is? I don't know much about the Halo games but I didn't think there was anything other than putting on the armor to becoming a spartan.

Put simply: They would be prepared to train small animals (Rats, squirrels Ect.) to do their work for them so that they could stay out of danger while still getting done what needs to be done.
