I know it's a dead game, but I picked it up again recently and... well, it's awesome methinx. My friend and I are in the process of taking it on together, no players guides or anything. Yes, I have a general sense what to do, but still it's a big challenge remembering it all...
anyways, anyone in here still love this game?

I did, when I played it. After beating it, I haven't ever really gone back again.

This is my favorite of the Myst series. It simply fit my thinking style, which meant that playing through it almost never got frustrating. Plus, the islands concept allowed for the world to be far more in depth. For that matter, it had more endings than the other games, and plenty of different ways to go wrong. Overall a very fun game.

Dead? DEAD??? Myst never dies!

I actually just played it through again as well...excellent. I found it harder than Exile or Myst, but more immersive and cool, probably. Myst perfected.

Check out this site when you're done with the game or need help...best Riven site I've ever seen.

Can anyone update me on the situation with the supposed Guru? I really haven't bothered after hearing the initial rumors.

Well, the title has changed. What I saw was Uru: Ages Beyond Myst, but at my current terminal I can't legally look at anything like that. But if you look it up in any good search engine you should find information.

Uru as an online game has shut down from what I undersand... they just didn't have enough people involved in it to keep it going... however they've released all the areas that where available online as expansion packs for the original so you can enjoy the additional content.... it almost sounded like they would release additional expansions as time goes on too.

I don't remember if Cyan said what they would offically be doing next....

as for Myst IV, that's being done by the same people (I think) that did the last installment (Exile).

As for me getting 4 (being a big fan of the series), I don't know if I'll be able to get it when it comes out, as much as I'd like to (I'm tempted to buy it just to have it, but so much else is comming out by the end of the year I'm not sure I can afford it, esp. with looking at getting Cable/broadband finally).

I did like the more nonlinear feel of Riven that the other Myst games seemed to lack, but some of the puzzles were kind of obscure and complicated. I am indeed looking forward to Myst IV, I just hope it'll be available for PS2.

Good luck with that. I had a "strategy" guide, but it was still great fun...especially the cinematics.
I'm back to make a post or two every couple years...

heh, your wishing of luck was about 2 days too late. we ripped through it in 4 days... first finishing Voltaic, Edanna, Amateria (yes I know that we did the first 3 backwards), and Narayan... 1 a day. it was great fun!

Some of the parts in Myst III (like the Amateria "marble ride" for example) are just begging to be played on an IMAX screen.

I'll admit Myst III was beautiful. Not my kind of game, but it looked wonderful. Playing it on an IMAX would be incredible...

The great thing about Riven was that the puzzles seemed to fit in the world. Myst and Exile seemed to have problems with that.
