Resident Evil players

How the heck do you guys play games like this one. Does this game not give you nightmares. Do you enjoy the thrill of fear or something. I just got know how the heck do you guys work up the nerve to play these games. Are you just born with the abilities to play games like these without experiencing fear. I was listening to this guy talking about Resident Evil on Xbox Live, He was talking on the phone with his friend helping him out with the game, talking about " You got to get the key of fate, then you will go into the room with these zombies that pop out of coughins" I was like CREEPY. I think I would get a friggen heart attack playing these games. Am I the only one like this. How do you guys play games like this?

I already can stand most spooky things if I know roughly what's gonna happen. But in some cases (such as the game Eternal Darkness...really awesome game btw) I need my hubby in the room with me to help me know it's ok. I guess I'm just a fan of that stuff. RE4 is probably my fave at the moment. And I guess these games aren't for everyone, but they do at least have a disclaimer on them for graphicness.

I've pretty much yet to be considerably spooked or creeped out by any horror game. I honestly have a hard time understanding why people consider games like Resident Evil or Silent Hill scary, since I've played through all of them and haven't really been phased by them.

It really boils down to personal taste. Just like you can't understand me playing the games and not being scared and never having nightmares, I do not understand you playing the games and being freaked out by them.

Everyone is simply wired differently.

And, speaking from the standpoint of someone who plays and is familiar with a lot of games, the Resident Evil games are really fun. RE4 in particular pleasantly surprised me as one of the most original and consistently creative games I've ever played.

But, as I play the RE games, I keep telling myself one thing - "I have WEAPONS! ROAR!!!"

I love RE games mostly because well its a horror game. Getting jumped by a zombie once and a while keeps you in the experience and makes so you don't forget all about it a week after you finish it. RE4 though didn't scare but just totally reinvinted the franchise to easily one of my favirote games of all time. And plus all and all RE has had some decent story elements specially 4.

I think there's a good point here, UM. I think a large part of the fear in horror movies is the element of helplessness - we are drawn towards a predetermined conclusion without any way of altering course. In the Resident Evil series, for example, the experience is interactive. Plus, you do have weapons. So what if a zombie crashes through the window? You're startled, sure, but you pump a load of buckshot through its decrepit skull and keep moving.

Now I really need to try RE4 . . .

I have had dreams related to Resident Evil and Silent Hill, but I wouldn't call them nightmares. They were actually quite fun.

Resident Evil 4 won so many awards and was so highly praised that when I first played it I honestly expected it to turn out highly overrated.

It isn't.

It absolutely blew me away by being one of the most highly creative games I'd played in a while.

Ah yes I've been a huge fan of the Resident Evil games for three years now, but a fan of survival horror since 2001 and the games Parasite Eve (huge fan of that too) brought me into the whole survival horror genre.

As for playing through the games without being scared, yeah I've always just enjoyed the thrill of the fear I guess you could say XD! I guess what made me that way is that when I was only six years old my big sister would babysit me with her friend when they were sixteen and decided "screw it we'll put on the horror film anyway". Since then that sort of fear since I was a child grew my fear for the horror genre and later on I just wanted to use that to face my fears. That's sorta how I developed my love for Resident Evil games and survival horror XD.

Well not sure about the other Re games, but Resident Evil 4 is solid from start to finish.

I agree lol. Those people don't know what they are talking about. Resident Evil 4 is very great.

I guess you just have to have an interest in that sort of thing to begin with.
I've played a few of the RE games. Just never beat any of them. A lot of the puzzles I quite like, but the games themselves just don't really do it for me. Zombies jumping out and going "Booga booga booga!" gets predictable after a while.
However, I'm a positively rabid Silent Hill fanatic. With each installment of the series, Silent Hill finds new and interesting ways to freak the ever-loving mess out of me. I love it. I think the psychological aspect makes it more effectively scary. It's like with movies. I'd rather watch Se7en than Dawn of the Dead. And like Azier, I've had a number of Silent Hill-related dreams. And they are quite fun. Pyramid Head is actually pretty easy to get away from. He's big and mean-looking, but the Great Knife slows him down so I always have plenty of time to get away.

I guess I have no taste either, since I found RE4 to be just as boring as all the other RE games I have played since the PSX and Dreamcast. I finished the game, but I don't think I will play it again. I gave it away to a friend of mine who likes RE quite a bit. I guess I am just not into this kind of game or something... never scared me or made me feel the least bit anxious, and I really dislike horror movies. I love a good thriller though.

I found Condemned on the 360 to be nerve racking, it was a fairly fun game also... the only Capcom related zombie game I like is Dead Rising personally. I had lots more fun with that game.

Rarely, but I have heard some people not like Resident Evil 4 . The only reason I can think of is because there's just a lot of change in it in comparison to the good old classic REs. But RE4 is far from a mindless action shoother . Other than that if anything I always keep hearing "RE4 is the best Resident Evil ever!" .

Don't get me wrong it is a game of sheer excellence in my opinion, but just not the best one ever. My favorites are just the classics is all and my favorite Resident Evil is RE3 'nuff said .

I played it some, but haven't beaten it yet. I might get it for the Wii if there's anything different about it content-wise that the PS2 version doesn't have.

Yeah I'm wondering that myself since I remember learning that the PS2 version is different than the Nintendo Gamecube version (that's the only one I have). I've been wondering if the Wii edition of RE4 was different than the PS2 and Game Cube versions. After learning that the PS2 version is slightly different (ie Ada Wongs mini game being different which is called Separate Ways instead of Assignment Ada), I've been more and more tempted to buy the PS2 RE 4.

In fact some Resident Evils for different platforms I've noticed are different when they're the same game of the series if that makes sense XD.
