Flood zones

Postby Ashley » Tue May 11, 2004 2:11 pm

Hey everyone--

There is a serious, serious thunderstorm/hurricane warning in effect for Southeast Texas (in and around Houston) tonight. The storm is the worst I have ever seen, and may even be up there with Allison a few years back. The rain is nearly horizontal, trees are bent backwards, and the street is quickly beginning to flood simply because the water is pouring down faster than the drains can drain.

My prayer request is for everyone in this area. My own family is safe enough--our house is built so high a car in the street needs to be completely covered with water before it even reaches the sidewalk leading to our house from the driveway. But I know of other areas that are not this well--particularly like around Turbocat's neighborhood. Please pray for them and their safety. Also for people like my father who will have to drive home tonight and face more storms and dangerous weather. Also, if the power goes out, well no more Ash for a while.

Thanks all

ill be praying for your safety... there was something really cool that one of the pastors at church said about how people hate the rain and dont like it but i dont really remember what it was he said but it was cool lol something about how God is washing away our sins.. im just guessing but sometimes we all just go sit out side and watch the thunderstorms go by its pretty cool i think..

Totally off topic, I love the rain very much. Even driving in it is awesome to me--it puts me in a very soothing, relaxed mood. Oh, and in Texas rain = cold front = cool weather = break from heat! Yay!

Well the sunshine is pouring into my room now, and today has been a bright summery one. All those clouds for yesterday seem to have moved on, and I haven't heard of any major flooding. Thank you so much everyone for your prayers---everything was fine here.
