Super Depressed

Postby Dr.Faust » Mon Apr 18, 2011 4:53 pm

I've been depressed for the past like 8 months, though I have not been happy with life scene 7th grade (11th now). I just can't seem to find any happiness. I know I'm depressed becuas there not one day I'm not angry or thinking about dieing.I've always been someone who cares too much and someone who puts all the worlds problems on their solders, witch probably plays a big part in my Depression . I've got so much going on with my life, between my porn addiction making me hate my self even more then I already did, having to move to SC my senior year oh high school, politics , ever person who just keeps telling me the world is ending(this is getting to me a lot for some reason), and just having to defend all the people who inspire me who are good Christians but get called Satanist because of the organizations their a part of, and just general people who are stupid, and not being able to muster up the courage to talk to anyone that's not online about my issues. I need more advice then prays on these issues but thanks for both.

Aw, I'm sorry you are having such a hard time. Since you are in 11th grade I'm going to assume you still live with your parents right? Have you talked to them about any of this? Sometimes it can just really help to talk to someone. Depression is hard to beat and some people can't just 'get over it.' It's something I have problems with as well every now and then. Sometimes medication and therapy are a step that needs to be taken, especially if you want to die. As for people telling you the world is ending, are you talking about the people going on about May 21? Because you are not alone, they have me all freaked out to. I'll be praying for you.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

As far as May 21 goes I haven't huard that theory and I don't care for it.I'm just sick of hearing the world's going to end in 2011,2012,2003.14, what ever I'm just tired of hearing this after I'm already dealing with enough crap as is. And if you read one of the last comments on my post i confessed that i have lack the ability to tell my parents.

Ah, yes sorry. I did read that, but I guess my brain didn't process it. I've been a bit out of it latley. Hearing about the world ending can be tiring and can send me into a worried panic most of the time. It's just best to try and ignore it I suppose. If people keep coming up to you and saying it though I guess that is kind of hard to ignore.

Praying for you! I agree with Topaz that talking with your parents about therapy would be a good idea. Next time you're in for a doctor's appointment, mention your issues to them. He/She can help you talk to your parents. Most schools also offer counselors who can help with this.

This is why therapy might be a wise choice though. I can understand that you find it hard to talk to people about your problems (off-line in least), because it's something I struggle with as well. Personally I need therapy to, it's in least something I finally managed to talk to my mother about. You'll feel a lot better once you get it out.

Ill pray for ya man Ive been dealing with depression and feelings of loneliness for the last couple months myself. I used to worry about the end of the world also. You should of course keep talking to your parents and remember to pray and know that ultimately the only one who knows what the future holds is God. Read up on all the apocalyptic predictions that didn't come to pass and you might worry less as well. The world was apparently supposed to end many times but didnt. Thats how my therapist told me to think about it:thumb:

Man if you ain't intrested in politics just skip it, and about the end of the world stuff its already stated in the bible that no one knows when it will happen, so don't worry about that at all!

There is so much more to life than that, just fight on man and don't let Satan keep you down. I'll be prayin' for ya :)

A good time to tell them is to pull them aside the next time you see them. Otherwise, it can be difficult to muster up the courage to actually do it. If you have the number for your pastor or deacon, then call them up and say that you need to talk. They'll make time for you, either then or within a few days.

hehe. the world's not going to end in 2012. what is going to happen is that I'm going to burst out laughing come new years '12-'13. :D

Matthew 24:6 NRS
"And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not alarmed; for this must take place, but the end is not yet."

It's fine to pay attention to politics, but don't feel like it's strictly your responsibility. At the very least, your responsibility is to vote come the next election.

I'm so hapy to hear you've taken some strong steps with getting help! It can be depressing when we realize that we can't deal with a problem ourselves, even with God's help, but if we didn't need others we wouldn't be social creatures.

that's awesome! I'm glad you asked someone to help ^-^
It's not whether you can or can't do it, it is if you do it or not. Nothing comes easy in this world, especially a job or money. I rely on Jesus to get me through these hard times of persecution.

Yeah guess who just messed up, that's right this guy :( I don't know why I keep watching this. I know how much these girls and guys truly hate there jobs but i just seem to want to profit off their pain. I've seen this stuff scence I was 7-8 and i've always hated it, so why do I keep coming back to it. I've tried to do everything to stop my self from watching it, competive fighting games, studying, extra hours of flute pratice, but the only thing i haven't done is read the bible SMH! If i mess up one more time i'm just going to tell my parents. Well i'm going to send this to my sis so she'll know ahead of time that i messed up, post books and chapters i should read for my issues. thanks to all.

(Isaiah 41:10) 10 Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Guess who said that? God did! Chin up and put a smile on that face. Fight this depression with the confidence that God is on your side. And I've been there before, so I will most certainly pray for you! :)

Firstly, Biblically speaking, you'll mature at a snail's pace if you don't have a community of fellow believers helping you. And, I don't just mean us here on the internet. Yes, the people here are a great resource. But the thing is, there's a difference between living breathing flesh in front of who you can see and touch and hang out with and us online. ANd, I don't just mean a place you go to once a week on Sunday mornings or twice a week if you go on Wednesday nights. But, I mean some Christian people of your gender and your age and possibly older that know what you're going through, who you hang out with, and who you can talk to when this stuff comes up. You need, if you don't have one, best friends who are Christian and who you can do stuff with. They might not be at your church. But, you need that. Nowhere in the Bible will you find a man trying to go about it by himself. You need a Biblical church community that will keep you accountable daily to get you out of your sin.

Also: make sure you're pursuing God primarily. It's not a bad thing you want to be out of your sin, but if you make that your god, you'll just keep falling. Make sure you're seeking God and setting your mind to the things of God then from that will come your freedom.

You've got to stop worrying as well man. The world's not going to end on any of those dates.

"But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into. Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect."
(Matthew 24:43-44 ESV)

Heck, worrying is a sin:
“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

(Matthew 6:25-34 ESV)

And, don't worry about politics. For:
"Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God."
(Romans 13:1 ESV)
The leaders that exist and will exist are only in the position they'll be in because God ordained it. You can't change that. Worrying yourself into a depression can't fix that. God's got a reason for bad leaders and good leaders and most of the time, it's not our concern(there are exceptions. But, you can't stress over those either). Thus, we should vote our concious as God calls us to and be concerned primarily with the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Don't get yourself depressed, man. God loves you. God wants to care for you. John Piper says it best: "God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him." When you're miserable in God, you're not giving glory to God.

I think this can help you. Don't seek after worldy pleasures. Don't worry over worldy things. Rather, approach the Fountain of Life and take your joy in Him. Here are a few links about Christian hedonism which I feel will be of use to you:
http://www.desiringgod.org/resource-library/articles/we-want-you-to-be-a-christian-hedonist
http://www.desiringgod.org/about/our-distinctives/our-beliefs/what-is-christian-hedonism

I'll be praying for you, man. It's alright if you're not alright. Just don't stay there and keep pursuing Christ.
"Idolatry rarely dwells in morally dark things. It almost always dwells in positive things made ultimate." - Matt Chandler
