CAA Under Attack?

Hey everyone--
the staff has been alerted that we are being targeted for attack yet again by hackers. We have very little information, but are doing our best right now to take appropriate measures. Of course, this is to be expected--when you stand up for Christ, things get messy sometimes. That just tells me we are doing a good thing in the Lord's eyes, and Satan can't stand it.
Anyway, please pray that 1- we will be strong enough to resist their attack and 2-if we are attacked, that the Lord will provide us with the knowledge, skill, and technology to restore the community within a reasonable time. I ask extra prayers for shooby, oldphil, and straylight---the techie boys of our staff who will bear the most burden if we are faced with this trial again.
Thank you to all who will commit this to prayer; and if we go down again, well, you know what happened.
"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance."--James 1:2

Definitely keeping you guys in my prayers. And you all know where you can go if the CAA goes down again, right? I talked with Keely shortly after it happened earlier this month and we now have a few more mods at AA--just in case.

I know that God ordains all that comes to pass.
In the book of Joshua, chapter 3 verses 1 through 4, we see that the Lord had not given Israel immediate victory over the Canaanites. God had allowed some Canaanites to remain in order that all the tribes of Israel would gain battle experience.
Perhaps the Lord is using these hackers to prepare us both technically and spiritually for the more difficult battles that lie ahead of us. And perhaps also to test our determination and resolve to follow Him, whatever the cost.
We must not let our prayers for our brethren cease, and we must not let adversity discourage us. We are children of the living God who has overcome the world. He is also able to help us overcome any adversity we may face.
Lord strengthen us.
Amen

Cephas, believe me I did not want to blow this out of proportion. I merely wanted to make the point that all hardship that we endure (hackers included) is ordained by God for a purpose. Sometimes in times of adversity we need to be reminded that God is in control. Sometimes we need to be reminded to be of good cheer, and to praise God, even in tough times. That, and giving a possible reason why God might be allowing hackers to come against CAA, was the point of my post.

I'm not majorly worried about attacks either. They can't do any permanent damage to the site. Thanks for all the prayers and consideration though

The great thing about this is, CAA is more than a site. If the site itself is destroyed, we'll just move elsewhere and resume as we always did. No mere hacker attack can break what we have here, yes?

Absolutely! And yes, Cephas, there are far more damaging things than hackers, but when you're an online ministry, they are a real concern too. Not worth losing sleep over, hackers will most likely happen anyway, but I wouldn't brush it off as completely incoincedental with the spiritual world. I'd even venture to say that it's for strengthening us.
Thanks again everyone for praying.

I will pray for the CAA (it rhymes!
).
Over the weekend, I heard a verse in a sermon that is especially pertinent to this situation:
"You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies" (Psalms 23:5a).
Basically that means that our greatest blessings come when we are doing the Lord's work and overcoming our enemies; so, for each hacker that tries to mess with the site, there will be a blessing to go along with it. Not to mention the fact that some of the hackers might see something on the site in the course of their hacking that would "plant a seed," causing them to eventually come to Christ.
Either way, I'm glad that this isn't a big deal, but I will still pray.

For the moment, we have some great news. We were able to effectively thwart the hackers this time, so praise God!

Excellent; that is indeed good news! Not even the devil can do any more than what our God allows him to.
