Prayer for renewed strength in academics

Postby Golden_Griff » Sat Oct 16, 2004 5:08 pm

Hello all, Griff here. Small request to make of you

I probably should have mentioned this earlier in the week but, anyway, I am entering the second quarter of the semester starting Monday.

AND I NEED SOME STRENGTH OF MIND!!! :waah!:

*ahem* Sorry, didn't mean to make such an outburst.

But seriously, I really have not been pleased with my performance during the past quarter of school: not doing reading assignments like I should, not staying focused on work, etc. etc. I've manage to get by and escape some potential academic misfortunes (in which every escape I'm quite sure was made possible by the act of God).

In the past I was a big worrier, an over-achiever. But it seems that I've taken the totally opposite direction and have been a slacker. I'm afraid that if I don't get rid of that "it's-not-done-but-oh-well-just-let -what-happens-happen" attitude that I've had for half the semester, it's going to come back to bit me in the rear end BIG TIME.

So, main idea is: I want to have a strong mind to be more focused on schoolwork and to do better with time management.

Okay, now that I made my prayer request don't forget to look at the ones before me (I feel like I'm overshadowing here :red: )

Ohhh!! Dear Lord! I want to do better!! :waah!:

Love is that feeling you get when a girl looks at you and it feels like your driving a car at high speeds and experience a sudden drop. You know what i mean? That sudden sinking feeling you get in your stomach? Yeah, that's love. Leave's you speechless everytime.

I know how you feel. I was also doing some slacking earlier this semester, but after i got a not so good test grade I buckled down and became more serious. It's so easy to become a slacker. I'll pray that you can get the strength to buckle down and be more focused.

Im praying for you Griff. I know what its like to have a lot of work and no desire to do it, but hang in there. I'll be praying for God to give you endurance, patience, and the willingness to work.

Prioritize Griff! I know you can do it. Visualize the goal and work to achieve it! You've done it before, you can do it again!

Sounds like you need some motivation and discipline. I hope you're not wasting too much time online (chatting, foruming etc.) coz I easily fall into that as well.

Do remember that time is not yours and everyone is responsible for what they do with the time God gives them on earth. I shall pray that you will learn how to manage your time and resources wisely. I cannot downplay the importance of academic excellence even though I will not endorse "obsession for good grades."

Do you like learning in school? Or is everything just boring stuff and endless assignments? I pray that you'll be blessed with the right motivations to study and find some worth in whatever you're learning in school.

"The advice I like to give young artists, or really anybody who’ll listen to me, is not to wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you. If you’re sitting around trying to dream up a great art idea, you can sit there a long time before anything happens. But if you just get to work, something will occur to you and something else will occur to you and something else that you reject will push you in another direction. Inspiration is absolutely unnecessary and somehow deceptive. You feel like you need this great idea before you can get down to work, and I find that’s almost never the case." - Chuck Close[/color]

Thanks for your prayers guys. I'm here now but it's only for a break from my reading--I didn't have a strong desire to get online at all today! YAY!

Funny thing though: I was sleepy in ALL of my classes today. Not too good of a start :eyeroll: But, I don't plan to make that a habit anytime soon.

Yes Mave, motivation and discipline is what I lack. And I'm very vulnerable to the cyber life...

:comp: "Leave me alone!"

*sigh* Unfortunately, everything is boring AND endless in [particularly] reading assignments (which is bad because reading is not my fav thing to do :shady: ). Even the classes that I thought would be interesting really isn't. The only class that I truely enjoy is my Graphic Design class.

*sigh* Okay, time to get depressed.

When I do think about it, I feel like I'm doing all of this work for nothing]trying[/B] to find work that gives me decent pay :shady: I try not to think about that kind of stuff, because only God knows the future, and He could have plans to make me the next president of Nintendo for all I know. But looking through my "natural" eyes, I really can't see where I'll be 3 to 4 years from now.

Okay, depressed time over.

But getting back to the question on hand, I've spoken with someone about an idea of how to get through this necessary evil known as school, which--I would like to think--is working. It's only been one day but I think things will go better this time around :thumb:

Aww termyt!

Thanks again y'all. Well, my alarm sounded off about 15 minutes ago so back to work I go!
