My Grandfather

Postby Destroyer2000 » Fri Jun 11, 2004 9:09 pm

My grandfather has had sharp decline in health these past five or six years...I remember the day I was watching cartoons while sitting in his chair, and I was talking to my grandma, when he came in from work and said the doctor told him that he had an anurism the size of an orange or larger on his Aorta. For those that don't know what an anurism is, it's a weakened spot of a blood vessel that swells up, and the Aorta is the biggest vessel in the body. If it is severed, you're dead in roughly 2 minutes. Anyway, that isn't much of a problem since they said he's had it since he was 10 when he fell out of a tree. He has a blood disorder (I don't remember what they called it), and it causes his platelets to be low and he bleeds extremely easy. His blood pressure rises and falls everyday, and for most of these years he had internal bleeding to the extent that we nearly lost him several times - his blood got down to only three pints one time. Well, the doctor found the source of internal bleeding and cauterized it, and two to three days ago was the third year to the day that he hadn't had a blood transfusion.

He quit smoking about 40 years ago (He's 82...POSSIBLY 83. Don't think so...), but he has developed enphesima. He has hardening of the arteries, and doesn't get enough blood flow to the brain, not to mention low blood pressure, so he sees things. Sometimes what he dreams becomes reality. He doesn't like bugs, and he sees them alot, even when they're not there. He sat up straight in bed and tried to get up too quickly, and fell, leaving a big bruise on his arm that's about every dark shade of purple and black that there is...it comes from his shoulder to almost his elbow. He sees people, too. People in the car, people on the cement tables...my grandma has suggested to him that these might be his guardian angels. We don't see them, for sure...

Anyhow, the amount of things he thinks he sees and does seemingly gets worse everyday...so please pray for him. He's 82, and every year past 70 is a blessing, right? The Lord must have a plan for him even at this age, may it simply be to be an influence on us.
